i know there easy to everybody except for me.lol.so please bare with me.

2x-20=32

i know you have to do something to get x alone right?

x
__
3 - 4=10

2x
__
5 +1=7

i really want to see step by step i need to learn so when i take this test online i want to be able to recieve my credits

=)

The easiest way to do these kind of equations is to remember the order of operation

2x - 20 = 32

X wants to be on its own so anything NOT connected to it send over to the other side. In this case you would add 20 to both sides (cancelling it on the left)

2x = 32 + 20

Now simply

2x = 52

Now you need to get X by itself. Again you need to do the opposite operation that they have. Since 2 * X is what you see, then you will have to divide both sides by 2.

2x / 2 = 52 / 2

Then you simply

X = 26

Other example with a little more work may be helpful to you:

4x + 7 = 7x - 17

In this example you have 2 X's 1 on each side. So the 1st thing you want to do is get the X on the left and the numerials on the right.

4x - 7x + 7 = 7x - 7x - 17

Simply

-3x + 7 = - 17

Now move over the numerials

-3x +7 -7 = -17 -7

Simply

-3x = - 24

Now X cannot be negative so remember that, and when you can try to connect the negative to the number you are shifting over. If you can't take it in 2 steps as I will do below:

-3x / 3 = -24 / 3

Simply

-x = -8

Now remove the negative

-x * -1 = -8 * -1

x = 8

Just remember what you do to one side you have to do to the other side.

I hope this helps and I wish you the best of Luck! :)

Question 1
2x = 32 + 20
2x = 52
x = 26

Question 2
x / 3 - 4 = 10
x / 3 = 10 + 4
x / 3 = 14
x = 42

Question 3
(2x / 5) + 1 = 7
2x / 5 = 6
2x = 30
x = 15

1)
2x - 20 = 32
2x = 52
x = 26

2)
x / (3 - 4) = 10
x = 10

3)
2x / (5 + 1) = 7
2x / 6 = 7
2x = 42
x = 21

Nice try, First you have to add twenty to the other side and you get this, 2x=52. THEN you get the x by itself by dividing 52 by 2 and you get 26. so, x=26. Hope that helped.
