Back when I was a teenager my parents wondered the same thing when I would be listening to Floyd or Zeppelin,
When they considered Sinatra, Tom Jones and the like to be Music and what I listened to to be nothing but a bunch of noise. No matter the generations there will always be the generation gap most defined by the choices of music they listen to.

Music. I guess you can call it that if you want too. I call it "neo-ersazt noodler noise." Neither fish, nor fowl, nor good red meat. One of the things I hated most, years ago, was whenever I would end up in jail for farming the wrong product and was forced to listen to groups of ethnic youths over in the corner bragging to each other about what a baddas they are and how much "the wimmens'" loved them. I would have gave a hundred dollars to not hear it. Nowadays people pay big money to stick it their ear and say it's killer.

Good question. But it's not true for everyone. All my guy friends like the oldies. Personally I like anything you can dance to and I can dance to just about everything but rap and hip-hop. And the lyrics to that kind of music... ugh.

They play music on MTV? I thought they just had those reality shows with the self-absorbed participants. I like the 60s and 70s stuff, but it is nice to hear new music--if its good quality. I liked some of the early rap, like Naughty by Nature, and I also liked funk and soul music back in the good old days. 90s alternative music was also good, in my opinion, especially Beck, Weezer, and others like them.

Because that's the kind of music is being played on MTV and all of the most popular radio stations. Kids these days don't take the initiative to dig and discover old music or music that actually has artful poetic lyrics. Most teens just wanna fit in, so they conform with the different types of music/trends that they see around them, which today in 2007 are unfortunately mindless pieces of ****, and advertise lifestyles that are absolutely rediculous.

You sound like you're my age! I hope young people will keep an open mind and expose themselves to some of the great music of the 1960's and 1970's. It may have been naive, but much of it spoke of brotherhood, peace, love, and looking for a better way. The emphasis on violence and hatred in much of today's music troubles me. Music profoundly affects those who listen to it. Let's all fill our minds with positive ideas and we'll become better people.

Because the 13-18 youth of the world is the most annoying group of people in the world. I am 23, I don't like teenagers, I disliked them when I was one. All that music is garbage about gangsters who supposedly grew up in the and live in the streets but still have alot of money,
Are they wealthy hobo gangsters or something?

Did you know that the "C" is silent in (c)rap?
I don't know either, there's now music or melody. There is poetry and meaning somehow but I can't get by all the Mother F*ck this and She's a B*tch there.
It all sensationalism to me, not REAL music. Gimme dome Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Beatles, Stones, Doobie Bros. ....etc.

The quality of their drugs. Meth? Gasoline (yes, the same stuff you put in yout automobile)? Viagra? Carbon dioxide (by breathing in a plastic bag)? The homeless dress better. Teenagers don't grasp quality in any concept.
