gay sex doesn't cause aids unless one of them are infected with the virus. It's easier to transmit the virus through anal sex.So practice safe sex and use a condom.

It is know as a gay man's disease because vector zero was a gay male that came from Africa and the first population to be infected was the gay male group. Later heterosexuals became infected as well as those sharing needles.

BTW, AIDS is not a disease that kills but rather a disability that allows other diseases to triumph...cancer, pneumonia, etc.

It is transmitted via the blood supply. The reason it is found in the semen, according to a doctor I spoke with, is due to the semen picking up red blood cells lining the uretha as it is expelled from the body. Those red blood cells contain the virus and take root into the new body via an opening in the mucus membranes. It's all downhill from there.

The only reason It's known as a gay disease is because Patient Zero (the one who really brought AIDS to America and possibly Europe) was gay, thus it started more rapidly throughout the gay community.
It can also be spread through straight sex with an HIV+ person, in the 80's blood transfusions spread HIV, and IV drug use. Along with other ways.
Today, AIDS's prevalence is increasing rapidly among heterosexuals (straights).
AIDS is not a gay related disease. With all the information out there today that standpoint is nothing but ignorant.

Because Men were first to be thought of a one of the main tranmissions of the Virus because they release so much bodily fluids into the other partner during sex (Straight/Gay). Not much was known about how the virus was transmitted but they knew it was from sex and had to be in the bloodstream needles etc.... Just because men where at the front gay men had more sex with men than the straight ones did, so it did spread faster in the gay community. Now that there is awarness a lot more people are practicing safe sex now and this shifted the highest infection rate to a different group of people. I think the highest is females now in the younger age group. I can agree with it spreading faster in the gay community when it first came out , because it hadnt been discoverd yet but that dosent make it a gay disease.

Because it came to America through this promiscuous gay guy...when they tracked the men that had it, they could find links to him and many cases. So, the disease was mainly among gay men who frequented bath houses. Then, it spread to others because some men where bi, in the closet, etc.

It's a disease. The bubonic plague was a disease. The great flu epidemic earlier this century was a disease. None of them are specific to anything other than the human race... gay/straight/lesbian/bi/trans...

52% of new cases of HIV infection are gay or bisexual men in the USA. you do the math....

PS David is incorrect, the HIV virus does not infect the red blood cell. It infects the Helper T cell bout when the infected cells explode after infection the virus is found loose in the body fluids. ( misinformation is one of the main reasons that HIV spreads.)

2/3rdsof all AIDS cases in males are from gay sex. 2/3rds of all women who have AIDS got it from men who also have gay sex.

Eliminating gay sex and IV drug use eliminate 9/10ths of all new AIDS cases.

The link below shows good information on what causes AIDS.
