I have a master bathroom that I have to leave my bedroom to go to.

I was planning on knocking down a piece of the wall between the bathroom and the bedroom and put the room there. My mother was a realtor and suggests I not do so much renovating and remodeling because I will be moving in about 6 years and that is my first home.

Okay, fine. (maybe)

So here's my next issue.
The master bathroom is outdated. We want the bathtub to be against the wall by the window and we want a double sink. Also there is a wall between the bathtub and the toilet (the toilet is by the window) and the shower and fixtures are affixed to that wall.

I want to knock down that wall to make the bathroom bigger.
But with the shower attached, I'm not sure what to do. Is it possible to put the fixtures on the other wall?

It also needs to be retiled.

I don't want to put too much money in the house.

Some suggestions please

approximate plan:

Everything you mentioned is certainly doable. Since you need to have the walls re-tiled, you're going to be tearing them up, anyway. So, while you're in there, moving the plumbing and electrical around is no big deal.

Unless you're a plumber, electrician, carpenter, and tile setter, I wouldn't recommend doing this yourself. And, depending on the cost of materials, you're probably looking at about a $10,000 bill to have a contractor do it for you.

Wow ... I see this a lot, people want to change things but are afraid to ....even with it being their own home.

I am not that way I will tear down, re-plumb, re-tile and dry wall and anything else in my own home.

I being a lowly electronic technician ... anything I destroy can be put back together if I need to sale my house ($$$)....but that's me.

I say go to it and have fun ....watch a few do it yourself shows plenty of good information...

Everything Paul said is correct. With the walls down you can do anything you like.
