Okay, this might be just for you. I picked up this book and I am hooked. It's called "The Face" and it's by Dean Koontz.
The writing is fantastic.

"The Haunting of Hill House" by Shirley Jackson is really good. It's about some people investigating a supposedly haunted house by staying in it for some time. There were several movie versions of the book made. If you're interested I recommend the original, made in 1963.
Good luck and happy reading to you! :-)

Almost anything old by Dean Koontz is in the Horror/Thriller lineup. His latest books are not like that - they are more supernatural type stuff. I would suggest starting with "Watchers" and "Tick Tock" - they were the first two I read of his and Watchers is still one of my favorite horror novels.

I suggest any of the paperback books that you can find by Howard Philips (H.P.) Lovecraft. I'm sure that you can buy them cheap at Amazon.com.
