I have an 18 yr old son here. He pays for his car, including insurance, clothing, cell phone, and hanging out w/ friends. No,he doesnt pay me for anything, but he does do things around the house.
He works at a grocery store and he will pick stuff up for me,and doesnt expect me to pay the money back.

My dad still has me and my sister living with him. Unfortunately, our jobs pay peanuts so we can't really afford to help him with anything. He's helping me pay my tuition too. But we do pay our own personal stuff like clothes, food, cell phones and if we have it sometimes we'll give him a cut of the money we do have. If he needs us to do anything for him, we do our best to do it. He does everthing else- we may as well help him out. We love him lol.
I just wish it was the other way around. I want to take care of him instead of him taking care of me. But this is the way it is until I graduate. Then hopefully I can get a good paying design job and the tables will turn.
Make your son help out with stuff. Let him know things have to change. I know he's probably eating more than anyone in the house! (these young males). Tell him to get his own groceries or that he needs contribute. HE'S GOT A JOB. Tell him that he either needs to help out or MOVE OUT. Thats messed up. He's grown, he needs to get his own! Or help out thats what familes do- they HELP EACH OTHER.

Well, Not only do I have a(so-called) adult, I also have his Son.
Which is possibly the only thing keeping me from runnin' my son off, so I guess it's a bitter-sweet kind of thing. "You can lead a horse to water, but ya can't make em' drink!" When he
can he helps out, my problem is tryin' to get it through his thick-head that my G'son is not a "bulldog puppy!" But, guess
like everything else it'll "all come out in the wash!" lol
Have a GREAT DAY!

Yes! and she just left. She did help when we needed it but we had to ask. These young adults are very much for themselves and expect their parents help instead of helping the parents.

and are you cooking for him and doing his laundry? I had a rule.........the ride was free until the kid was 18. The kid could remain at home, but was charged a nominal fee for room and board. Hey, they gotta start sometime. It worked well.

I am an adult child...and I only live with my mom 'cause they kick you off campus for summer and winter breaks.
But I give money whenever my mom asks for it...if I have it.
