Our 13 yr old daughter is totally obsessed with them. I think they are egotistical and attention seeking jerks! The lead singer has had a chequered self abuse history, they are dark, they sing of blood, murder, hanging, suicide, death, vampires.........well the list goes on. I understand she loves their music, I think a few songs are quite catchy but I just don't like the influence on her at such a young age. I would be interested to know your ages and if you love or hate them?!!

I LOVE them. They do NOT have a bad message. A good one in fact. I don't know you, but I really don't think you have read the lyrics, or at least tried to find the meaning.
Yes, they DO have a song called 'Blood', but I don't take it literal. I think 'blood' is actually talking about their music and how the fans don't can never get enough.
Please, before banning your daughter from listening, look up interviews and try to decipher song meanings. If you can't find a song meaning, look it up.

I'm 19 and I used to be a massive fan of them when I was about 15 and 16 up until their last album in which I totally agree with you that they have become extremely egotistical and attention seeking. However, this seems to be the direction in which all bands are going now. They have all adopted this 'big head syndrome' as I like to call it, in which they have gained an increased number of fans over the past year and it has gone to their heads. I think at 13 I was never really listening to the lyrics of bands but more to their music so I don't think you should worry about them having an infulence on her in that way. After all, their songs have very meaningful stories behind them such as the death of gerard way's grandmother, and if you really became worried you could do more research into the stories behind the lyrics and explain them to your daughter if she ever asks. All that being said I would have to say I love their songs but hate the band! Hope that helps!

and i love the band and their music
the reason why i love the band so much
is because kids these days are going through alot
like family problems, depression, not fitting in, ect.
and my chems music is written so that kids can relate easily
they do not sing about self harm
or anything bad
this band is accually here to save lifes
i know it sounds a little weird but its true
the band has said in many interviews that when they were younger they were just as messed up as most kids these days
and they want to help them
because they knew how they were when they were younger,
messed up kids that did drugs and drank [not all the band members]
and because of that, they dont want kids today ending up the same
because they know its hard
they are not attension seeking
infact
they have said that when they are done saying what they want in song they will end the band and leave it there
i dont think thats attension seeking at all
i dont think you should be worried about your daughter that shes gonna be self harming and stuff

I love My Chem and at first my parents had a slight issue with me listening to them, but finally they let me, and it hasn't changed me in any negative way. The lyrics can be dark, but do have a meaning behind them other than that. Gerard (the lead singer) may have a drug and alcohol history, but is now sober and clean. I won't go on, cause you already have your opinion, but i think my chem is awesome.

I first heard them when I was 12 years old. Now Im 14. I used to be a huge fan. But when the Black Parade came out everyone started to know them and like them. Now I really don't listen to them anymore.

your wrong !!!! they have a message behind there music. they are trying to stop children from hurting themselves etc. They aren't emo either there just a rock band !!! brought there ablum me 13 !!!

i think they're good (im 14) but i don't think their music is good enough!my fave bands are Iron Maiden,Black Sabbath,Ozzy,Slash's Snakepit,Muse,Kaiser Cheifs, etc etc etc i cud go on forever-for gods sake introduce her to some decent music! lol xxxx :D
