Sorry they did not make silver dollars in 1983 at the U.S. mints. You must have a token of some kind. Anthony dollars were made from 1979 through 1981 and then again in 1999. None were made from 1982-1998. So it must be a trade token of as I said some kind, can't tell unless I see it.

the only silver dollars worth anything are around the turn of the century.

Only a dollar even though it's in mint condition.
Has to be old and in mint to be of value.

I would guess $1.00 Silver isn't worth much, and 1983 wasn't that long ago.
