Hi. I have recently done an olive oil and lemon juice cleanse for my gallstones. It was successful, but I am now suffering pain in the same region... not related to eating food. It is pretty constant. My husband, a crystal healer, divined that the sphincter between stomach and duodenum has been "burned" by the lemon juice, and there is/was a "bubble" in my intestines, caused by gas being caught in the olive oil.
I did the cleanse last Saturday night, but my stomach seems very gassy and upset, and I woke up with heartburn and stomach ache (like gallstone pain, from front to back, but nowhere near as severe.... and constant, instead of coming in waves).
I also feel like I need to "go" but nothing is coming (even though I ate popcorn last night). I have been almost fasting for the last 3 weeks (just juice, water vege soup, and apples) due to the gallstones.
Are there any herbs which can help my stomach and digestive system to heal and settle into normal functioning?

SoulDoctor, I am also a homoeopath, LOL (ie not a naturopath, hence I'm a bit in the dark about "cleanses" and the like.)
Have you ever used Nux vom successfully in these circumstances? I can't say I would ever consider it for what you suggest. I'll go read those links, though. Thanks.

OKay, I can see some resemblances now, but I've never abused any substance but food. I'm chilly, but always feel better in open air.
Pulsatilla is what usually works for me. (Ah... you know how Puls loves sympathy... hence getting my sympathy fix here on Y!A, LOL)!
Thanks for reminding me about homoeopathy, anyway. (I don't practice, so I tend to rely on less complex methods of healing... homoeopathy is a bit mind-blowing at times.)
Thank you for your kindness! :-)

Aloe is a good healer, inside or out. Chamomile tea will settle your stomach. To replace the bacteria you lost, eat organic yogurt. Try to start out with a bland diet and work up to stuff like buffalo wings. If your heartburn persists, take a half glass of water with two tablespoons of vinegar in it to replace your stomach acid, or at least, supplement what you have. You have shocked your digestive system and it needs some time to recover.

I am not quite sure if herbs alone are the answer. I took a snippet out of a detoxification article entitled "Natural Recipes for Body Detoxification" that may help you get back to normal.
"Making the choice to eat well is a beneficial first step in the process of toxin cleansing. To truly purge the body's waste and support the cleansing systems (the lymphatic system, liver, intestines and blood), organic food choices are vital. Along with consuming primarily organic, whole foods, it is also wise to include food choices known for their natural detoxification effects.
A few of these organic, detoxifying foods include:
Broccoli
Other cruciferous vegetables (cauliflower, asparagus, etc.)
Green vegetables
Fruits (berries and apples)
Onions
Garlic
Lemons
Broccoli sprouts
Liquids (green tea, pure water and algae drinks rich in enzymes) "
Hope this helps.

Gonna sound a bit "out there," but have you considered a good colonic? Not near as unpleasant as you might think, and a good practitioner can replace a lot of the live bacteria your system needs to function well and which may have been lost in the "cleanse" process.

you body was one way and you made it another way.the oil stimulated the duodenum, get a good anatomy book, and stand in front of a merror and draw the location of your gutty parts on your skin with a washible marker so you learn the location, remember the parts are backwards in the merror so you dont put the gall blader on the left. ha ha ha ha
i bought a double bell steth-o scope years ago, with the long tube to listen to ,[gut sounds] and heart sounds. its amasing that gut sounds sound like hump back whale vocalisations.
1. listen to the diffrence between the stomic, duodenum ,small intestins and colon.
2. get the marker out and draw a map of the boundries of the stomic ect , it helps to know were every thing is at
3.when you are listeming, push your finger tips down on the aria and find out the out line of each organ and see if it is in pain
seeing that we dont have a ultrasound machien we have to use sound and touch
stethocopes ,double bell ,cheep ones run $20 buchs or so at the local ,medical suply store. iv had mine for 18 years or so, and find it invaluable!!!!! wen things go wrong every 3 days or so.

i drink [poop juce] prune juce and soy drink, it coats the stomic and relieves the pain, and i eat 15 dryed prunes, and run to the toilet in a few hours.
pepermint tea,or organic drops helps the stomic. the pain may be in the gallblader but untill you locate your gallblader you may not know for sure .
ALLSO -GENERIC BENIFIBER at the drugstore, disolves invisibly ,helps things fly out, and maintains wetness in the colon

cleansing sounds like a good idea, but you know what I would recommend? Getting some acupuncture. A good acupuncture stomach treatment might just cause the rebalancing you need. Plus the acupuncturist would be knowledgeable about herbs and supplements and nutrition as well.

Milk is bad. Next time just use ginger ale, but let it sit for a while so the fizz escapes. There are medicines too, just go to walgreens or a pharmacy.

Please drink water immediately. It may sound simple but water may be your best cure. cheap and quick. Make sure you are well hydrated...an average adult should be drinking about 3 liters of water a day. Not so popular with MD,s and Pharmaceutical companies but absolutely the best cure for so many of our symptoms.

If I were you I'd try apple cider vinegar diluted in water.
Also, might be a good time to take lots of probiotics.

Aloe Vera can be very healing. I like George's aloe because it tastes like water.
Slippery elm is also very soothing.
Good luck and be well.
