i check Chinese horoscope once in a while but in some places it says im a monkey and in others im a lamb whats up with that how can i know for sure

Occasionally a site will use only the years to tell your sign, like 1980 1992 2004... and that is not ok, because if you are born in january you're probably a goat (nice helmet by the way) while in february you could be a monkey (nice imitation of a goat by the way).
The new chinese year starts at the second new moon following the solstice in december. That's therefore based on a cosmic event, just like our calendar is.
In any case you could be a capricorn with three planets in aquarius, and then you would roughly be the same character as if you were a goat plus a monkey.
