Animal Rights Activists- Did you hear about the Brazilians that drowned those 80 Dolphins? I also heard that many people are involved in dog fights in Texas. One African American Man constantly abused his dog that he broke its jaw, shot bee bees inside it, and burned its body.

Did you ever hear anything so awful? What can be done to make sure that these people are punished? Is there a way that I can be part of an organization against Animal Cruelty? Can you help me find an organization or program in which I can help abused animals.

Some people deserve hell for what they have done- animals were here first- and they deserve that respect.

To all the people that think dolphins can't be drowned: 'Dolphins are air breathing mammals not fish, they have to surface to breath through the hole on the top of their heads'
I hate cruelty, the perpetrators should have done to them what they have done to the animals (or other people) EG: The man that tortured the dog and then burnt it should be tortured and burnt. The dolphin drownders should be drowned. Same for child abusers they should get covered with cigerette burns and have their ribs smashed and be swung round the room & bashed into walls like what they did to their child victims. Have done to criminals what they subject others to!
I'm off to calm down now, that got my blood boiling.

I say it doesnt matter if evolution is true or not, if we are talking about an ape or a microbe. The simple question is, does it think for itself? An ape should be declared a man in the sense of sentience, if its applicable. Secondly, your reasoning is flawed. Just because we came from apes doesnt mean we are apes... and it doesnt make apes humans. All life sprung and evolved from the same original bacterium. If transsexuals can be declared the opposite gender, legally, why cant a chimp be a human? Its all about how you feel inside and has nothing to do with how youre born or your genetic make-up, right? I do agree with the reasons laid out in this article though. The chimp was refused "personification" by the courts not because of his unique ability to think and reason. Rather, he is no more special than any other monkey. It was merely an effort to establish guardianship and therefore trust over the donations the chimp receives.

I am not a fanatic about animals and have no desire to have one as a household pet but I do hate all animal cruelty.I was so pleased when the UK banned fox hunting and wish that the USA would ban blood sports. They do a lot of hunting there. Two things stick in my mind about that country.During the run up to their last presidential election here in the UK they showed footage of Bush's opponent John Kerry shooting birds out of the sky I was appalled and remember thinking if I was an American even if I liked his policies I would never vote for him after seeing that. Also when I was there last year having a look around Walmart I passed the sports section and they have to their shame a large hunting section. There was a poster up advertising a hunt and on that poster it said "children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult, that is so sick.I can't understand why The Animal Liberationists who are so active elsewhere like stopping seal slaughters do not try to stop hunting in the USA.

Your question is generalizing a nation when you write "...the Brazilians... drowned...Dolphins...".

Not the brazilians, but, SOME STUPID BEASTS who, unhappyly, was born in the same country of many other dozen of millions who don't agree with this. The prove is that this was presented by a TV show as a terrible violence against animals.

animal cruelty exists because many people don't see them as anything other than animals, thus disposable. We still have dog fighting in the UK, though its mainly underground, i.e not openly talked about. There are many animal charities i suggest you use the web for help. RSPCA is a good start.
Badger baiting, **** fighting all so called sports practiced for centuries, you have to educate people and punish those severely for causing pain and cruelty to those that cannot fight back.

Ya i agree, but the sad truth is it's a fight we can't win, there are so many terrible people who behave in this way all over the world. i don't understand how people can take advantage of animals that pose no harm to anything.

Your theory that animals existed before humans yet have remained unchanged, but that they are also somehow morally superior, would baffle all students of Darwin and Descartes.
I suggest that you direct your righteous outrage against those who oppress their fellow man, rather than at the benighted Ethiope who thrashes his donkey; or, indeed, the lion who brings down for food the fleet antelope.

The American Humane Society is a good place to start. They tell you what's wrong, tell you who to complain to, and tell you how you can take action.

You can tell a lot about a society by how it treats its animals.

You gonna argue with Gandhi?
