I don't know if everyone's so disinterested, the filibuster seems to have sparked your imagination.
It wasn't a shenanigan. The purpose was to try to change Republican minds - to get them to allow a vote on whether the troops can come home soon. Life and death, war and peace are serious business to my way of thinking.

I bet you won't think it's a madcap stunt come November of 08' when republicans lose their butts in the election. You very much sound like the couple of republican senators I heard speak. Stay the course, support the troops, al-Qaida this, that, and the other thing. Most of America wants an end to Iraq. I doubt very much that most of America sees last night as a charade, they probably see it as republicans blocking any change in course. Americans are smart enough to recognize a dog and pony show when they see one, we've been seeing it long enough from this administration. Our President and VP are dragging the GOP down and folks like you are cheering because you think "the liberal" are losing. It's America that's losing and most Americans are tired of it already. Laugh now, poke fun, do whatever makes you feel superior. The republicans days are numbered and they will lose big time next election.

We should not be pleased. I'm not. I wasn't pleased Libs were even elected to the Congress. Reps held control of both houses for 7 years, and did much for the country. Previously, before that, Libs controlled both houses for 40 years, and did nothing except let illegals in, give immigrants social security, paid for by the taxpayers, never ever any of them having paid a dime into social security (thanks Jimmy Carter), and now we Americans who have paid our whole lives for comfort, when we retire, still have to work, just to keep our homes, or pay rent, and buy food. Democrats are thieves, and Libs don't care, because for them it's a lot better to receive than to share! F UM!

What does it hurt? This is no more of a waste time than the Terry Schiavo crap in the Senate a couple of years ago. At least this time it is about something important to ALL Americans.
I don't see why people on here have a problem with debate in Congress... afterall, it is the legislative branch, its SUPPOSED to debate.

Yes, and it was a trick to fool the gullible democrat voters.
The Democrats knew they would be voted down.
It was a Fund Rasing Event to trick fools into giving a bunch of money to the Democrat Party.
Democrat Voters are soooo easy to fool.
Cool!!!!

We should be all in favor of everything that Reid, Pelosi, Shumer and Kennedy are doing. They fail at every attempt, thus guaranteeing a republican victory in 2008. They are members of a party in disarray. Let's not slow them down.

It's to pretend like they are working hard for the American people by debating using big words most Americans can't understand and pretend like they are big shot people when most of them get kickbacks from Exxon Mobil to not vote against the War In Iraq.
I'm a diehard liberal, but i think harry reid is a piece of ****.

All nighters in the Senate have gone on for as long as the Senate has existed. Since you are disinterested don't pay any attention.
