SAG: Screen Actors Guild (Actors Union)

SAG Eligible: when you have done enough union work to join SAG

AFTRA: American Federation of Television and Radio Artists

AEA: Branch of the Associated Actors and Artistes of America founded in 1913. The AEA union represents actors and stage managers in theatre within the United States.

ACTRA: Canadian organization representing performers in English-language media

Actra Apprentice: Your path to a performing career with ACTRA

AGVA: actors union, which represents certain performers in Broadway, off-Broadway and cabaret productions, as well as live performers in variety shows, touring productions, and theme parks. Jurisdiction between AGVA and Equity may require case-by-case determination. Members include the Rockette dancers at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

AGMA: The American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) represents opera and concert singers, production personnel, and dancers at principal opera, concert and dance companies throughout the United States.

AAE & BAE: ? Unsure I am sure it is another Actors Equity

CAEA: Go to their web site www.caea.com

UBCP: Go to their web site www.ubcp.com

Financial Core: Financial Core (fi-core for short) is a right granted by the Supreme Court and the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) rulings that allow workers (not just actors) to NOT join the union, and still work union jobs. Basically, you become a “dues paying non-member” in the eyes of your union and you are allowed to work both union and non-union jobs. You cannot be forced to join a union, but you must pay your fair share.

UDA: ? Try google

NON-Union: Work that is not union

Darla did great, because frankly you're asking A LOT and I wasn't going to bother but she did most of the work...

To further explain, You can also become SAG eligible when you've been a member in good standing of a sister union for 1 year. For instance, you can join AFTRA by simply paying the fees and as long as you continue to pay your fees for the next year, you will become SAG eligible and therefore eligible to pay even more fees!

ACTRA is AFTRA for Canadians.

Once you join these unions, you may not do non-union work or else you will be levied with big time fines and sanctions if your unions finds out. Your producer may obtain a waiver so that you can do a certain project but you have to go through the proper application process for that... I'm not sure how that all works anymore.

Also, a side note - AGVA handles some of the main Disney performers. I mean at the park, if you go see Aladdin or one of the bigger performance shows, the actors are AGVA.
