Has anyone had an anal exam recently at the gyn? I had my yearly checkup and Dr. had me bent over the exam table on a stool while he gave me a very very throrough exam down there, and even stuck TWO fingers in (don't know why). Has anyone had a similar experience? this was my first anal exam ever!!!!

My gynocologist did this however, I was not standing bent over anything, and it was only slightly invasive, and there was always a nurse in the room during the entire physical exam. If this was not the case in your situation, I would certainly report your doctor.

Anal exams are normal. ALTHOUGH, they are usually done during a pelvic to check to make sure the wall/membrane between the vagina and anus/rectum isn't ruptured in any way. It usually requires a finger in each orifice. And does not require being bent over, since it can be performed while you are in the stirrups.

If you had any complaints about something related to your bowels, or something like hemorrhoids, I think its an understandable approach. However it is your body, and if you felt uncomfortable, you need to tell the doctor that. Or ask what the hell was that all about. If you don't get a plausible answer, report it.

Did u ask to get your anus checked? Was it a physical? I have had a anal exam. But it was only because I asked for it. I thought there was something with my bowels. So the doctor put fingers in to check. I was 16 and it was a female doctor. Everything was fine. If u asked to get that part checked or got a physical then it's fine. Otherwise talk to them about it.

Never in all my years have I been subjected to anal exam. In a guy I know they are checking for a swollen or abnormal prostate. For a female having an anal exam???? Never heard of it. I think you should see your family doctor and discuss whether or not you have been examined inappropriately or at least find out what the other doc. was examining for.

Anal exams on women are not normal unless you are having a problem with your bowels. I would go to the doctors office and tell them you have a question to ask then ask a nurse to pull your chart and just casually ask her why the doctor felt like he had to do an anal exam and see what her reaction is and what she says. Whatever they do in the room to treat you has to be documented on your chart.

It's your right to always have a nurse in the room with you during any exam so these things don't happen. Dr.'s are just people too, and so eventually there's going to be one that's perverse.
I'm not even sure who you need to report this to, but it has to be reported so other women don't go through the same thing.
Try your local police station and work from there.

They don't do anal exams on women at the gyno. You need to report this.
Sometimes your regular doctor will do an anal exam on adults over 40 as a way to see if there is bleeding in the colon which could signal the beginning of colon cancer.

Gynecologist do not do anal exams, unless your confusing a pap smear to an anal exam I do not know what you are talking about. Can you be confusing the two holes?
