No movement at all when I turn the radio on or off. I looked for a fuse for the antena. Found one on the fuse chart said "automatic antenna" but no fuse in the slot. I put one in, still nothing. Must be another fuse, but have no idea which one. Is there a way to manually lower the antenna? Is there something other than a fuse that could cause the problem.

Check for power at the antenna or relay by the antenna---if you turn the radio off and the antenna motor makes noise like it's trying to go down, then the antenna drive cable is probably bad---you can usually replace the mast and drive cable assembly with Mercedes parts or replace the whole antenna with a factory one or one from a parts store---may be a lot cheaper if you can get one that fits ok. If you turn the radio off and there is no power to the motor or relay for the down cycle of the motor, then you'll have to trace for a power wire problem, bad fuse, bad ground or bad relay.

Paul H has a good answer. Your auto antenna is probably a Hirschmann. These have a white plastic cable that extends up into the wand. Inside the box below is a kind of friction drive and take-up spool for the cable. If the cable snaps or wears badly the drive will not work. Also if the antenna is bent, it will not work.

With some models you can repair the system yourself if you take a good look at at it before you do anything, but you will probably want a new wand and cable.

The cover plate of some Hirschmann antenna drives is held on by 4 to 6 screws. You will have to remove the trunk lining to get at it of course, this is easier than you may think. Once you have the cover off, take a good look and then vacuum out any plastic dust and old cable before threading the new cable in.

I did all this but had antenna trouble three years later and replaced the whole lot with a good Japanese made one.

Open the trunk and check everything at the antenna , The radio when turned on tells the antenna to extend so check trunk . hope this helps.
