How has it been being uncircumcised from a social standpoint? Were you made fun of and felt different from your peers? Was the whole "getting made fun of in the locker room" scenario true, and was it really awful for you?
Was your father circumcised, and, if so, did that freak you out when you were little to see you were different from him?
Also, how many of you have had problems with infections and was it difficult for you to keep yourself clean?
Thanks, guys, any info is appreciated!

Thanks everyone for your answers so far. I'm extending the time to see if I get anymore responses.
I'm already aware of all the statistical data. I'm actually asking this question because I'm a nurse in maternity and I'm always curious why parents want a circumcision for their sons. The above are the reasons I'm given most.
For most parents it's a cosmetic issue, so I'm wanting to know from you UN-circumcised men if it's really as big an issue as people think it is. I'm wondering about your personal experiences. Were you scarred for life by not being circumcised?

No problems of any kind. My wife is completely pleased that I am natural. My father and brother were also intact, but I never spent any great amount of time comparing penises with them. My father was a very modest man. Nobody said anything unkind in the locker room or elsewhere -- it was just not an issue, ever.

I have never had any kind of genital infection, nor has my wife. Keeping clean is just a matter of washing it like any other body part.

I sincerely belive that circumcision is child abuse and that no one, not even a parent, has the right to permanently remove or alter a body part of a child too young to give informed consent unless there is a medical problem.

Men have gotten along perfectly well since the beginning of the human race without chopping off bits of their penises. The only reason to circumcise is to make the payments on a doctor's Lexus.

I've never been made fun of (I'm 18; going onto college now) for being uncircumcised. I'm just proud of it. When you're proud of something the chances of people making fun of you go down the hill. But if they see a weakness and see that you're ashamed of something, they'll take advantage of that. You have to remember that circumcision is now a lot less common than before. Before uncircumcised guys were made fun of because they were in a very small minority (for example, over 90% of guys were circumcised at birth in the 1960s!). However, nowadays, circumcision rates have fallen a lot. The USA is the last advanced nation doing it. In some states, the rates are as low as 20%, so now uncircumcised guys are in the majority (or will be) in those states. CNN actually had a story on that:
http://www.cnn.com/2007/HEALTH/06/18/circumcision.decline.ap/index.html

I've never had a problem with infections or keeping clean. I just pull it back and rub the head when I shower. That takes less than 10 seconds to do and keeps it clean all day. The only reason I'd imagine it would smell is if you masturbate and don't clean up your ejaculate well (ejaculate/semen has a nasty smell when dry).

Feel free to e-mail me from my profile if you have any more questions. =)

I'm in Australia, not in the US but I hate being circumcised. I had a few friends who were intact at school and once I realised that they could masturbate with it so much easier I really envied them. With the US circ rate down to round 50% (Australia's has now dropped to roud 10%) young men are more likely to realise they have been mutilated for no good reason and to deeply resent it like I do. Intact guys can change it if they really want to. Men like me can't. The internet now shows that there are a lot of men who feel this way too. We just don't often talk about it in mixed company.
Women like super girl should be made to get the folds of their own genitalia cut, if they are so obsessed about hygiene. Normal intact male genitalia is easier to wash than female genitalia and smegma is the substance that is washed away from the folds of both sexes.
In the modern world surgery should never replace simple washing. Circumcision removes over half the skin of the penis (about 15 square inches or 40 square centimetres, in an adult) and it's not just simple skin. It's packed with nerve endings, special anatomical features like the ridged band and has a unique elastic gliding action, allowing it to slide on itself and act like lube. In one study women reported that sex with an intact partner was gentler and more satisfying since he doesn't have to thrust as hard to feel enough stimulation. Removing the foreskin turns the surface of the glans from an inner mucosal membrane to outside skin. Newly circumcised adults usually go through some weeks of intense discomfort as the glans is constantly exposed to rubbing on clothing, until it develops a thicker keratin layer and becomes less sensitive. A new study has shown real differences in fine touch sensitivity between circumcised and intact penises and that the most sensitive parts of the intact penis are those that would be removed by circumcision.

I used to be uncircumcised, and i really didn't like it, when i played football we had to dress and shower around each other, but when we showered a lot of guys would just shower in a spare pair of boxers and use their hand to wash their private parts inside their boxers. So I didn't really have to worry about having my penis seen. But when we were dressing there would be a few guys that were completely nude. In my case i would just go in the bathroom and change. So I really never had any problems being made fun of because i was well liked among my peers and because no one knew i was uncircumcised... However, when dealing with females i was often a bit insecure about being uncircumcised, because even after washing i didn't know how long it would be before the foul smell came back. Now that i'm circumcised it's much more hygienic and myself cofidence now has gone through the roof.

actually it has its benifites, sex is better this way and it really does not matter.because if your large enough the forskin stays retracted and it appears the same anyway.
