u should be flexible but not like Cirque du Soleil. just stretch every day until tryouts.

Practice depends on ur squad. it's usually every week day plus Saturdays (except game nights) during the season and 3 days a week in the off season.

if you're a returning cheerleader (like u get in this yr and u go back for try outs next yr) all-week practice starts in the summer.

so what u live in the country, it gives u character. just be sweet to everyone and smile as often as you can and u'll be fine. (especially to anyone who's mean to u... and be genuine)

there's no such thing as a regular girl. but if u want to be a cheerleader u can, just be yourself with a small dose of what they're looking for.

Of course you have to be flexible!!! If you can't do a toe touch atleast 2 feet of the ground... say goodbye to your cheerleading dreams! My squad has tumbling every night, and choreography usually 3 times a week. I am on an allstar squad. So I don't do sideline cheerleading. I guess you could probably make it if you took some tumbling, stunt, and stretch classes. It doesn't matter if you're from the country. My family is really country, but I am on an allstar team.

Where I live, little girls take cheerleading courses starting at the age of five years old. It takes years to develop the capacity to do the routines that cheerleaders do these days. It would be impossible to develop the skills over a year's time unless someone worked full-time at it.

It may be that your cheerleaders do simpler routines. If so then you would stand a chance. Hire a senior cheerleader to give you lessons.

Cheerleading is like American Idol. You can just walk in expecting to make it just because you want to. You have to spend years developing your talent.

I used to show up to high school auditions thinking I stood a chance even though I had no musical, acting or dance training. I got nowhere.

Stretching does help. Here are some exercises I have my kids do at practices . We don't do all the stretches every time, but a much more limited set of them. One or two per set of muscles.
