Or is everything basically recycled?

Well, this one is rather original, actually. But I think anything which is about current events in the life of an individual is probably relatively original. That is, if I am asking for advice on how to do something, or help in making a decision, even if there have been many similar questions in the past, this is my personal slant on it, my story. That makes it original.

This reminds me of the people who ask if a quilt is original. Well, on the one hand, it's a design that's pretty traditional, or a minor variation on it. On the other hand, this person chose which fabrics to use, how to arrange them in harmony with one another, what size and scale to use, and to her, it is original. She's not copying from someone else, she's making her own decisions. That's an original piece of work.

Personally, I don't care if a question has been asked before or not. If I have a good answer for it, I'll answer it.

A lot of the answers are basically recycled too like the questions.

lol, how many times i've noticed the "similar questions" scrolling by in the box below where i'm typing. i try to whittle it down to less than 5 or ten by varying the wording of the question, but it does occur to me too: "what will we do when all the questions have been exhausted?"

but hey... recycling is good and we can make new user friendly things out of it. so maybe the trick is in finding new ways to combine old ideas. it may not be original, but it might at least fool that "similar questions" doohickey they have.

I think there can be an original question, but most of the things that could have been asked have been asked. Now people are asking the same questions, just re wording them.

Everyone's questions are unique in some way, if they are asked a few times, its probably because the person asking the question was not aware that his or her's had already been asked.

Probably not. Over three thousand years ago, King Solomon said "there is nothing new (original) under the sun." and he was known as the wisest man around at the time.

Well, I try to think up original questions. If I see it's been asked plenty of times before, I would never ask it again.
