I would avoid aspartame, as during development, especially of the nervous system, neurotransmitter concentrations are highly regulated and very critical. There is likely so much we don't know about nervous system development and the toxins we ingest that can influence that. The field of neuroscience does know this though: aspartic acid (an amino acid) is an excitotoxin in the brain. What that means is that it will stimulate the brain, possibly reaching the level of too much activation and the death of a neuron. It's probably not too much of a stretch to envision ADHD as having that kind of signature. Aspartame (the artificial sweeetener) is a mixture of two amino acids, one of them aspartic acid. The other is phenylalanine (read the warning on a pack of sugarfree gum).

In addition, when the body metabolizes aspartame (the artificial sweetener) methanol is released every time. Methanol, just to point out, is a major component of gasoline. Research hasn't shown whether aspartame is toxic to a developing baby, because it just plain hasn't been done. It is probably best to stay away from aspartame for sure while pregnant. Eat a balanced meal, and especially don't cut back on fat intake. Your baby's brain will thank you.

As for the egg yolk, raw or not, is likely safe to eat as long as your immune system is healthy. The problem with raw yolk is the presence of bacteria like Salmonella, but if it is a product like salad dressing, it likely has so much salt in it that bacteria haven't had a chance to multiply. Eggs today are so heavily treated and irradiated that the chances are extremely low. You're more likely to acquire Salmonella from your vegetables that were fertilized with feces.

My father used to simply throw a couple of raw eggs into the blender with some vanilla and sugar. I tried it a couple of times, didn't care for it. The eggs in the cereal thing doesn't sound too bad, but wouldn't the hot cereal cook the eggs? Then there is always the old Orange Julius method, Orange juice mixed in blender with a touch of milk and a raw egg. They made millions selling that stuff.

Never have aspartame with pregnancy. You should really try to avoid it altogether, but none while pregnant. raw egg is iffy. depends in the egg is pasteurised or not. and in ingredients you can't really tell....I would say with salad dressing...I wouldn't be too worried about it, I'm 9 weeks pregnant and the only thing I avoid is unpasteurised dairy products. IE: including Brie! Good Luck on your pregnancy.

If it was commercially prepared dressing (you bought it in a bottle) then it has been processed and the egg cannot hurt you.

Aspartame is also safe.

Your fine, aspartame shouldn't be deathly avoided like everyone thinks. I would double check aspartame when pregnant but I think your just a tick too paranoid. Good Luck :)
