A contractor has not paid me for completed work on a house. The residents have already occupied the home. Can I put a lien on the home for my unpaid work?

This is a state to state issue. I know in North Carolina, The Subcontractor had no contract or agreement with the owner of the house and the only recourse was to go after the Contractor. Presumably, The Owner of the house can show that they paid the contractor. Should someone have to pay for something twice? That sounds as unfair as you not getting paid once. Sue the contractor in small claims court.

I do not think so. Expecially if you were supposed to be paid by the general contractor and not directly by the home owner. You would have to go after the general contractor.
