I think most of it is basic insecurity with themselves (regarding the padded bras- you know what some men say, "More than a handful is a waste!"- Now, I am definitely much much more than a *handful* (TMI) but I do wear lipstick (that's my favorite cosmetic) mascara, a bit of concealer, and that's it. Women ARE beautiful naturally, but they've been brainwashed by all of the fashion magazines out there to pile on the makeup. And unfortunately where I live (S.California) breast augmentation is the most popular choice of plastic surgery. Very sad.

Our society doesn't appreciate "natural beauty" it doesn't accept, acne, obesity, small breasts etc...and its irritating when a man says, 'be natural' but begin drooling at the sight of a model. Its hard for an average woman to be confident with her appearance, whatever it may be, when her man is gawking a girls in Maxim magazines.
Some wear make up for fun (I do) I like the different looks I can create. Padded bras...hey...when your lacking something whats the best way to make it look better. But I dont' dress up for attention or for a man. I do it because it makes ME feel good.

Not all women are comfortable with their bodies. Duh. That's why the makeup, and padded bras, and other accessories that are advertised to make one look "better". Sure, I think women should embrace their natural beauty, but society has a huge effect on the way women think they are "supposed" to look. If they don't have huge breasts or luscious, long lashes, or a thin frame naturally, they can buy products to help them squeeze into the mold the media has created.

Low self esteem, lack of self confidence. I wear just a slight touch of
lipstick when I remember, which isn't too often. My husband has a
funny saying, I think it is, "only ugly women need makeup." The reason
he says that is because a lot of women put it on with a 'trowel'. A touch
is enough. Padding falls in the same category of self esteem, etc. If
God wanted us to be painted up, he would have created us all painted
up. lol : }

I stopped wearing make up, when I was 25 or so, and padded bras, I haven't even bought the first one yet, I'm 40 and I do believe in just being natural all the way.

Darling I am from tennessee
This is my opinion and response to that;
any old barn looks a little better with a little paint on it.I dont wear a lot of make up just enough to play up my good points and i have no need for a padded bra . I am a well blessed woman shall we say.........
i wear a little perfume and i am equally at home in my jeans or silky little black dress for a night out with my sweetie and i still get whistled at. i enjoy my paint and powder...........lol

Most women use makeup to enhance their facial features. And as far as the bra. You wanna know why I wear padding in mine? Not to make them look bigger, but to keep things from sticking out, should I suddenly catch a cool breeze or something. Ya know?

Awe.
I agree. Women are naturally beautiful.
I don't waste my time putting on make-up. I have better things to do with that twenty minutes. I'll only wear it for a special occasion.

Ummm... not for me! You can tell a distinct difference with me when I don't wear makeup b/c my features and my skin is so fair. I need make up to make my apprearance a bit more flattering. Not a lot, but some.
But, I don't wear padded bras! I'm a 38 DDD! :-)
