I have this "friend" who drives high (on weed) a lot and I was wondering if it effects his driving ability. Also, if anyone knew the laws regarding driving while high (in Mass) that would be appreciated too, Thanks.

Ok, since everyone seems to have a different point of view about this I decided to a little digging to try to find out if there is some science behind this. This one web page I found contains a bunch of different myths about Marijuana and they also discuss the relationship between marijuana and driving. Heres the url to that website: http://www.erowid.org/plants/cannabis/cannabis_info14.shtml
Another page I found discusses a lot of similar issues but also includes more about how the drug effects a person. Heres the url to that website: http://www.erowid.org/plants/cannabis/cannabis_faq1.shtml
Part III will be the part that goes into how marijuana ties into society and how it effects users and the general public. You might be disappointed to find out that some of the things you thought were true about marijuana are really just rumors. I am not trying to say that driving when high is a good idea or isn't that bad, but I guess it is not as incredibly dangerous as people may think.

of course being high affects your driving but it depends on the person. if they can tolerate the weed, the driving probably won't be that bad but if someone haven't built a tolerance to it yet, then its just as bad as driving drunk.

I drove stoned thousands of times between 1976 and 1988.
I had many close calls and came close to killing many people, including myself. Only luck or the grace of God kept it from happening.
Pot impairs your driving almost as bad as alcohol. No way should anyone ever drive while high.
I also drove quite a bit while tripping on LSD. That is also dangerous, but less so since I drove about 10 mph everywhere.

nicely, reaction cases are affected in the two eventualities so the two are undesirable yet with very own journey (or possibility taking immaturity!) i got here upon it greater stable tocontinual intense. in spite of the undeniable fact that my brother does it each and all the time? here in oz..we've have been given new trucks that do random drug testing that attempt for weed and amphetamines and that style of stuff and that on my own grow to be sufficient for some human beings i understand to grant it away so as that they dont lose their license or do penal complex time. yet i might say decrease than the impact of alcohol 'cos you hear of greater human beings crashing and getting killed whilst there's a decrease than the impact of alcohol driving force.

It effects your ability by slowing down your reaction time. So if they were about to get into an accident they may not be able to avoid it.
Also there is really no sobriety test like alcohol for them to test on site so any arrests they make would be assumptions only.

Whats wrong with driving high it makes you slow down. Now driving drunk is a totally other person all together. Driving drunk depends also on what you are drinking too. It makes me want to feel acceleration more so I go faster.

it all depends, on the persons driving and the high, I guess. But do you ever hear of fatal accidents caused by smoking pot? Seldom. Or never. Most pot smokers drive to slow and cautiously to be any trouble. Or they are just too stoned to go out any way.

Actually, its soooo against the law. If you were high, you could get into serious injury, or a car accident. So yes, it is definitely bad to drive high.

Yes of course. People smoking weed have greatly reduced response times.
If you're smart you won't go in the car with him when he's driving while high. You might get killed.

Of course it's bad and against the law. And he not only is putting himself in jeopardy but also innocent people. Do him a favor and tell him to knock it off, and if he won't then turn him in!

It is illegal, its called driving under the influence. it can affect your, i mean "his" reaction time, depth perception, and a whole other mess of things. Its always good to keep your eyes OPEN while driving too. i dont know too many potheads whose eyes are ever more than half way open.
