I have recently purchased a W reg (2000) Peugeot 206 GLX. It came with the standard Peugeot cassette player, and I now want to upgrade ;) and fit a (non Peugeot brand) CD player into the car. I can currently control the volume and mode using a branch by the steering wheel, a nifty bonus which I wasn't even aware that this model of car had!

Is there anyone out there (preferably a 206 owner with experience of this!) who knows if you can fit in a new CD player in this model of car and still have the ability to control the volume/mode from the steering wheel?

Thanks! :D

Hi. I had the same problem with my Peugeot 206 when purchased last year.
I went to halfords and bought an alpine CD player, I asked them about the steering control and if it works with this CD player and they advised to purchase a cable, Which, they checked against the in store guide that they have and ordered specially, if I remember correctly, the Part number is PC99-X44 which you can buy it on line, but I recommend Halfords as your best place because they will fit it for you when/if you purchase a CD player from them.
And the Steering wheel controls work perfectly.

I have a Peugeot 306 in which I came across the same problem. I had installed a Sony CD Player but choose not to have the steering column control altered to fit the new system.

It can be done by a Pro but it would mean split the wires and this would cause problems if things went wrong. Also problems for the next owner if you sold the car on.

I own a 206 with cd player and volume/mode control arm,i would guess you wouldn't be able to just take your radio out and fit a new one without an adaptor (as cassette operation would be different to a cd)..may i suggest a visit to Halfords..ASK the experts.

Yep im about to do the same you need to make sure the new cd player is compatable and you'll then need to purchase an extra cable to connect it up.... Also if the new cd player has a higher wattage ratting you'll need to upgrade the speakers as well otherwise they'll just pop

depending on how old your stereo is, peugeot use a standard iso din plug for power and speakers, most good makes use the same conections for their steroes, therefore should only take 5 mins to install.

Very unlikely. You need a Peugot cd player to do it.
