Yes, it does. I closed 2 fingers in a car door in 1984 in college. The nails fell off a few days after it happened and they came back in. Now, they won't look great when they first grow back---they'll be wavy and indented...but remember, your nails constantly grow, so give them a chance to grow out all the way a couple of times and they will look fine.

My toe nail dropped off once when I had bumped it against a rock it grew back healthy and normal. I think it depends on how badly damaged the nail bed itself is and not the bone. Good luck
Oh it takes a few months to grow back.

It will grow back but it takes awhile. They claim about 1/4 inch per month. It shouldnt be a deformed finger nail but their could be a possibility.

the colour will come again, it ought to be a splash darker than the others, or off colored. the colour you're seeing now may be the bruised nail mattress which you would be able to not see at the back of the cutical. there is blood nevertheless under there and it has to paintings its way out. this is probably nevertheless kinda sore via fact blood the place it doesnt belong is an irratation. wish this helps.

OUCH! I have lost fingernails twice from getting my fingers smashed and the fingernails grew back, but it took more than a month before a new fingernail became visible and another 5 months before the new fingernail completely grew back in. Your nail should eventually regrow.
