Well I haven't read any of the Harry Potter books, or seen any of the previous movies, but my brother's want me to take them to see the new movie that just came out and I'm gonna admit that it looks pretty good!! My question: Will I be COMPLETELY lost if I go see that movie without watching the other movies, or should I go rent all the movies and see them first??!! Thanks!!!

On A&E and Biography channels, there'a a whole 1 hour show dedicated to the Harry Potter history. That'll help. http://www.tvguide.com/tvshows/harry-potter-hidden/289080

I saw it, and wasn't bored. The scenes are short, just rioght for an A-D-D crowd.

I always say read the books first, but seeing as you won't really have the time to do that, you should watch the other four movies before you see this one or you will be entirely lost.

The Harry Potter movies really don't do the books justice, the films try to squash all 700 pages of the book into a 1 1/2 hour long film and it just doesn't work. So, as I already said, if you decidce to watch the movies with your brother, you really should read the books afterward too in order to get the full quality expericence! :)

Why is it wrong to watch a fictional movie concerning the defeat of evil and the importance of loyalty? If you are afraid and shut yourself off from the outside world, your faith is fragile. If your faith is strong, you should not fear books and movies. They only have the power you give them. Edit: Natalia, no dear, I believe you are the idiot. First of all, it's spelled 'you', not 'u'. Secondly, the 'no' you are looking for is actually 'know'. You typed out the negative form not the one concerning knowledge. Besides, if you actually look up the definition of cult, all religion falls into it.There is a different form of cult people usually think of which I suppose would be more of a cultural definition. I don't expect you would know that since your practice seems to involve shutting out everything you've been told you disagree with. Either way, this attitude fits it. In the future, if you are attempting to correct someone or call them out, please at least know (not no) what you're talking about first. It kind of makes you look like a fool. Just saying.

They talk about all these stuff and u wouldn't uderstand any of it if u didn't see the other movies. And if u didn't read the books, some of the movies get confusing. I grew up with Harry, i was 6 when i saw the first movie and now im 12.

I'd see at least the first movie. There's some storyline that you'd need to at least know about for a minute. But I don't think you'd be completely lost at all if you didn't see it.

I don't follow the books, but they movies are pretty good. A friend of mine says the new one is EXCELLENT, the best of the four (...five? I think I've lost count now).

Enough is going on with the people that I owould say rent the first 4. They refer to MANY previous incidents and you need to know who everybody is and why they are that way. I don't read the books but I'd be lost if I hadn't seen the films

You would be totally lost! I read the 5th book recently and I was fairly disappointed because they left out important parts and had the wrong characters do something that other characters were suppose to do etc. But it was good. Watch the other movies of course

yeah you might get confused. harry potter is kind of one continuous story that happens to be spread through seven books. i recommend seeing the other movies first it will make the fifth one much more enjoyable. however for those of us that have read the fifth book it was a slight disappointment so dont read the book first lol

I think you should watch the first 4. The multiple story lines are pretty involved and I think you will be lost.

They're good movies! Have a HP marathon with your brothers! It will be a blast!

Yes, you WILL be lost. It's still a great movie, though. Go see it in Imax if it is possible.

I would recommend reading/ watching the previous movies if you have time.
