I'm trying see if both sides would ever give a little and agree on something with abortion.

Would you agree to this as law? A woman can only have an abortion under these circumstances: Raped, mothers life is in danger, or she was on birth controll
It would take no more then 72 hours to find out if she was raped or was on birth controll.

Would you still have a problem with that if abortion was never brought up again (no more protests or attempts to change the law)?

You can tell when women are raped because there will always be bruising.

Its a nice thought - compromise, perish the thought! Pro-lifers would never compromise. Its their way or the highway.

I am pro-choice. There are several problems with what you have suggested. Most importantly it would be impossible to prove if a girl was raped or on birth control. No there isn't always bruising. They could try psychological testing, but that wouldn't be full-proof either. Rape is an incredibly hard thing to prove for those that accuse because there really is only evidence that sex took place, not necessarily forced sex and it comes down to 'he said' vs. 'she said.'

While it would be nice if people were always responsible and unplanned pregnancies were only due to birth control failure that is not the case. And by your suggestion the least responsible people (at lot of which would probably be teenagers) would be the one taking care of kids. I don't think any child should be unwanted. Of course I also don't see a fetus as a human being until about 5 months, but that's just me.

I think that as long as women are facing unplanned pregnancies there will be abortions. So rather then insulting, attacking and protesting these women people who are pro-life should try more productive pathways...such as lobbying for better sexual education and social support for women facing unplanned pregnancies.

Hot topic. personally I believe abortion is not an option but that is for the individual to decide according to our laws. Even the morning after pill aborts the fertilized egg so I feel this is still mudering an innocent life. I dont agree with your statement that rape always has brusing. it can go either way, there can be ruff concentual sex or no physical marks from a rape. As for giving a little I cannot tell a rape victom or endangered mother what is best for her in this I think its only up to her. I would never want my daugher to be able to have an aborition without my knowledge or concent. I dont think people should have the right to use abortions as birth control. FYI to reader if one is on birth control is likely to cause birth defects some believe it is ok to abort if it is known there will be birth defects.

I think your problem there would be proving birth control. You could argue that condoms are a form of birth control. And how can you prove a condom didn't malfunction? It would certainly take me more than 72 hours to realize I was pregnant and by then ...

And then what about a woman who is of an altered state - drug or alcohol induced? I go on and have a fun time with friends, drink WAY too much, go and have sex ... And people do make mistakes, people who aren't irresponsible and reckless.

I'm not going to pick a side because quite frankly I don't want to get into that debate at the moment. Just want to look at issues with your suggestion.

You are an idiot. You cannot always tell that there is a rape due to bruising.

Plain and simple, if some man holds a gun between your lips and tells you cooperate or die, you're going to cooperate, and he's not going to need to batter you in order to rape you. If he's wearing a condom, and most rapists, believe it or not, do that these days, you won't be bruised either, because condoms are lubricated.

So please pull your ignorant head out of your rectum and THINK.

You speak like somebody who has never been raped and never known anybody who has been raped. I hope for your sake you get to continue that personal ignorance.

I'm not even going to go into the to abort or not to abort side of your question. The rape thing was stupid enough.

No, the only exception that I can accept is to save the life of the mother. Life is precious; children have a right to life. We live in a sexualized society, and everyone knows how babies are made. The time for choice is prior to conception. Delay sex until you're prepared to parent; use condoms, etc; get snipped or tied; or put your child up for adoption.

There are numerous government programs, charities, and crisis pregnancy centers to help those in need of food, shelter, health care, and even counseling. There's no excuse for the 1.3 million abortions which occur every year in the US--98.5% of which have nothing to do with rape or incest.

Well with rape now a days theres not much need for an abortion because of the plan b or morning after pill. However some women dont come forward right away after rape so it would still be needed.

These instances I think it is perfectly fine to get an abortion

Rape
Incest
Life of mother is threatened
The baby has an un operable defect or major abnormality that would make the child miserable their entire lives.

Sorry but pregnant teenages should have to live up to the fact that they got knocked up in the first place. Have the baby and put it up for adoption.

Theres condoms along with the use of spremacide and birth control pills all of those combined are pretty darn effective for preventing pregnancy and if people are to lazy or cheap to use them dont have sex.

I don't agree with that, because there are always unique circumstances. What if it's a 12 yr old girl? What if the rape isn't reported, as most rapes aren't? Abortion should be a personal choice, not a government one.
Also, the abortion debate will never go away because it is a moral issue, and people get very emotional.

P.S. There is not always bruising.

It is the womens choice. I don't think they should have a law stating when its allowed or not allowed. If you are not that person than there is no way that you can know what their situation is, so there for you should not judge them.

You say its ok, if the women was on Birth Control, what about the women that is not allowed to take birth control, I was one of those women, I was not allowed to have any kind of meds. so there for I could not snick them, he was everywhere I went, and watched me, and made me get pregnant, and when I finally had a chance to get out, it did, and he still followed me because he knew I was carrying his child. So Yes I had an abortion, I didn't want to have his child, I was forced. And I do not regret it for a moment. I did not love him, he mentally abused me and I didn't want a baby brought into that.

No, I would not agree to this. A woman has a right to choose if she wants to be pregnant. It is HER body.

By your law, how, exactly would you prove rape? After all, couldn't I just SAY that I was raped to get an abortion? Conversely, what if I was raped but couldn't prove it (a common occurrance, I am sure you'll agree)? What then?

I see you have added: You can tell when women are raped because there will always be bruising.

Could you provide the citation for this fact? Because that is one of the silliest things I have ever heard in my life.

When it comes to rape, there's something called the morning after pill. And as for the whole birth control thing...well **** happens sometimes but there other options out there, like adoption. I can understand if the mothers life is in danger, but these days how often is that not a situation that modern medicine doesn't have a good fix for.
