The 2 keys to a successful Yard Sale:

1. Be highly organized! If people drive by and see a sea of random stuff, they will be overwhelmed and drive right by.

2. Market your sale! Put signs up around your neighborhood and at major intersections. There are some online sites that you can use to advertise your sale. A good/quality site is: http://www.yardhopper.com

I believe you can also design and print a Yard Sale sign at this site. Try: http://www.yardhopper.com/sign.php

Good luck!

dont forget the presentation!!! you can do all the advertising you want but as soon as people drive by your house and see the yardsale from their car, they might keep driving if it doesnt look appealing! so make sure there is things hung up or out in the front that look appealing to the potential buyers. dust off old things and make them look shiny and leave the faded stuff behind the newer looking clothes. have bright colored things even if its not for sale just so it could look colorful and attract buyers. like balloons! its not expensive and you can give them away! you have to be creative and find ways to attract the most buyers to your yardsale. i remember a really good yard sale a few years ago that had the whole town talking about it! everyone was going to that yardsale! the whole town knew about it and it wasnt a small town (its now a city!) so turn your yardsale into a big thing and make some mula!

Mark every thing you want to sale.Put the price under the tag on every thing.I love yard sales.I hate to go and nothing priced.Put your money in a fanny pack, and keep it with you at all times.Set where you can see everyone.Get a helper. They steal from yard sales all the time.Be at the gate that opens to go in,so you can see what goes out.Mark stuff a little higher so they can offer you the price you really want.Sale sodas for cheap or water,if its hot.Last day of sale 1/2 price sale.Have it during first week of month.Use fluorescent signs so they can see them.Put signs up at end of road..good luck sale it all.

Hang clothes and mark the sizes. This will save you a mess within the first hour. Remember it is a "sale" and expect the customers to be looking for bargains. You don't have to give it away, but don't expect top dollar for it either. Put up readable signs with dates and times.

Make sure you advertise a LOT! Place an ad in the paper, put up tons of signs on the roads leading to your house, and if they allow it, place signs at the local grocery store/Wal-mart!

Make sure to price everything a reasonable amount, and be willing to haggle with the customers a little. Good luck, and have fun!

save your-self some grief by marking your goods( they sell the stickers at dollar tree.)clean clothes are hung up & don't price too high, and always have room for hagglers, if they ask you," to take a lesser amount ", try to be reasonable, and meet them halfway. on the last day of the sale, remember if you don't sell them today, you're stuck with them again...sell the items cheaper (just to get rid of them)..always have bags on hand....!!!! good luck i hope you make a bank!!!

Good luck. I prefer to donate to a charity and write it off on my taxes. Much less work and usually more return.
