It's perfectly normal for kids to explore their bodies. Especially in a sexual way as they reach puberty. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it.
Kids reach start puberty at different ages. 12 is probably about average. They start to get sexual urges and want to explore those feelings.
Masturbation doesn't lead to people wanting sex, like I said, it can be a way of exploring your body, feelings and urges. It's most definately not abnormal and just because people start masturbating at 12 it doesn't mean they're going to start having sex soon after.

I think that it's healthy to explore yourself for later on because if you don't know what pleases you, your significant other won't either. Not only for that reason, but I think it's important to know your body.

It's completely normal for both boys and girls. If you didn't do it then I would think that is bad. You should definatley explore your body! have fun.
