Jim, maybe you weren't around on 9/11, but we were indeed attacked and those people were terrorists. Since we can't change people's ideology, does that mean we should sit back and do nothing about terrorism? I think it is important to show that we do not tolerate terrorists.

We will most likely be attacked again, especially if we don't show that we are not going to take it. To be honest, I don't think being in Iraq will keep people from bombing us or increase the threat. T

The USA will be attacked again no matter what we do. Terrorists are as insignificant as a mosquito.

The real question is what will happen to the WORLD if we drop out of IRAQ. Watching last night's "debate" it would seem that nobody knows.

The terrorists will attempt to attack the USA regardless of whether we remain in Iraq or not.

But if we run out of Iraq, as the Democratic Congressional leaders suggest, the terrorists will have a lot more time and resources to put into attacking us. Plus their recruiting and backing will soar.

And the terrorists only have to be successful once to succeed. Defending against them, we have to be successful every time, or we fail. Odds are, it will happen. Those odds increase significantly if we cut & run from Iraq.

Probably. US Intelligence has heard about al Qaeda planning several attacks similar to 9/11 over the next three years. Just because we drop out of iraq, it doesn't mean al Qaeda will forget about us. Either way, we're sort of screwed.

you got it right honey. better there than here. we've already had isolated muslim terrorist attacks here. shootings, hit and runs etc...when the first bomb goes off in a local mall then maybe people will realize the threat we face. i hope it doesn't of course, but it will.

Probably so. But we were attacked long before Iraq. Keeping them using their resources and money focused in Iraq, keeps them from coming here.

It'll happen either way. All these systems to prevent it are conceived and managed by Humans, therefore it's flawed.

The only question is how will we respond? Will we give up more rights for the illusion with safety??? Or will we keep what it is that makes this country worth protecting to begin with?

I can't guarantee we will or won't, but I'd bet that there's a strong increase in the likelihood of it. Surely you don't expect the Iraqi police or military will be able to deter the terrorists.
