We have a 1 month old son, and when he first came home from the hospital his diapers when poopy would be yellowish in color, then we had a formula problem and about a week ago we changed him to Similac Alimentum and hes had diareah ever since. Could this be the formula change or something bigger. Hes not in pain at all, and hes been gaining weight. So now what?

It is totally normal for a baby to have runny poop. If he has a rash, is in pain, and has more than six dirty diapers in a day, I would check with you doctor. Different formula can greatly affect the way the feces looks. If he is gaining weight and happy, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

What do you mean diahrrea? More than 3 BMs in a day? I think the rule is no more than 3 per day or 1 every 3 days. Poopy is definitely going to change with the formula. If he's not in pain, happy boy! and he's gaining weight, he's fine.

My daughter is on the same formula when they first started her on it, it was the same way I took around 3 weeks and they she was back to normal. As long as he is gaining weight and not in pain he is probably just adjusting to the new formula. Good Luck

my daughter is on that formula. she has slighty runny poop, but not diarrhea. Diarrhea is considered having 6-8 poopy diapers in a day or that's my pediatrician says. I like this formula because before she was really straining to poop and had terribly painful gas before we used it now she is GREAT. Give it a little time and he should be okay. Good Luck to you and congratulations on your son!!!

It sounds to me that it's just a change in the formula. If it's a real concern of yours then call your doctor and ask them, chances are they can tell you over the phone and you won't need to make an appointment. When my daughter switched formula it was a couple weeks before she was "normal" again. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem with my lil one. As long as it is not completely watery and you can still see some grainy stool in it. Its fine. You should start to worry if he is loosing weight. Its just their way of adjusting to something new. He will slowly go back to his normal poopy as soon as his body has accepted the new formula.

Their poop being alittle runny is normal, but if it's all runny then you should probably talk to your doctor, especially seeings he's only 1 month old. He'll probably tell you to keep an eye on it and as long as he's got no fever then he'll be ok.
