Just curious.
I know how the media hypes this kinda thing up.

Example: Bill Romanowski used illegal substances. But, he was regarded as a 'great player'. Shawn Merriman used illegal substances. But, he's regarded as a 'cheater'.
I know these occurred in different eras but the message is still the same.

Tom Brady a 'model citizen' huh?
I guess you missed the issue about him getting some women pregnant and dumping her?
Oh that's right...SB MVP + white = free pass. Silly me!!

I don't know if it would be

everybody that goes the few strike thing can keep it. Plain and simple America would prefer a clean cut white pocket passer qb over an African American braid wearing scrambling Qb any day of the week. This isn't even based on talent either, remember when Donovan had grown his hair out and was running all over the place the media in general had a very neg. view on everything he did. It even got to the point that people were questioning his sexuality, even though he was engaged to be married.
Lets be for real for one second what vick was did is disgusting, distasteful and he should be punished severly but had Dan Marino, Jake Plummer, or even Joey Harrington done this the media uproar wouldn't be the same plain and simple.

Santosh23 I am confused are stating that Vick had a possy was uneducated and "Ghetto" because he is black? I am confused it almost seems like you are saying because he is black he couldn't make an intelligent decision. He didn't fight dogs because he was black he fought dogs because he is an idiot. black and ididocy do not mean the same thing

As a Pats fan I would be totally disgusted with Brady! People were a bit shocked(disappointed) when they found out Brady was going to be a father! This shows that the character bar for Brady is set much higher than Vick. The Pats are a no BS organization and I would imagine he would be cut! (this is why the Pats are contenders every year and the teams like Atlanta are underachievers!) I'd want him to rot in prison somewhere for as long as the laws allow. Either that or put into the middle of a dog fight!

Romanowski was a roid freak who was an incredibly dirty player!
While I'm not a huge Merriman fan I don't think he has nearly the track record that Romo had! I'll let more time pass before passing judgment on Merriman. It would go a long way if he would stop dancing like a fool everytime he makes a good play!

People would be MORE upset because it would be out of character since Tom Brady has been a model citizen.

Michael Vick has had trouble and scrapes with the law before.

People are most upset about the treatment of these dogs, regardless of who was the perpetrator.

No one likes or admires Bill Romanowski, he is universally regarded as a dirty player and not a good person

It would be a different situation since Brady doesn't have a few strikes against him as Vick has. I think the way athletes treat the media has a lot to do with the way they are portrayed. Personally I hate Romanowski, and I don't mind Merriman. Merriman made a mistake where as Romo was a constant cheater. I think Romo was more of a media darling. So they weren't as tough, not to mention his trouble came out when his career was ending, where as Merriman's is just starting. So there's all kinds of different variables that come in to play. But to answer your question, if it was Brady, yes people would still be upset.

Heck yes they would be this upset! This is completely unacceptable and disgusting and a FELONY! Mike Vick should be banned for like from the NFL and sent to prison. I wish someone would treat him like he treated his dogs. Maybe he would reconsider how he felt towards helpless animals.

And by the way, Romanowski is/was regarded as a cheater and someone who was/is completely off the wall crazy. Everybody knew he was juicing and he got called out on it. Merriman is called a great player all the time. He almost got defensive player of the year last year and all of the analysts on espn and sports illustrated rate him as one of if not the best defensive player in the game. Everyone knows Merriman is unreal. I don't think he is regarded as a cheater as much as Romanowski even.

Probably not. People would be shocked if it was Tom Brady.

As per Vick, in less than a year he has done the following: Flippped his own fans after a loss, had weed in fancy water bottle, did not show up at an event he was schedule to appear in DC and now the Dog issue.

Nice little road Vick is taking.

People don't even think this is a race thing.

I can't speak for society at large, but I would hope that they would be equally upset. I think this situation has little to do with race unless you back up twenty or so years and review the situation in which Vick grew up in. We do have more minorities growing up in ghettos than whites.
That being said, it's the cruelty of the event which people are reacting to.
ps- Romanowski is a juiced up ******. He ended a fellow player's career by punching him in the head for merely touching him.

There is no comparison of Vick and Tom Brady. Brady is accused of no crime. I mean it's not like he hunted down his pregnant girlfriend and killed her or anything like that. It is not a race issue, it is a bad judgment issue. Everyone knows Romo was excessively violent on the field. He had talent, but come on he was sadistic. What about Ricky Williams? Want to talk about a bad rap, I personally believe he got screwed the most, no one talks about him anymore. Pot? Like that is dangerous. People just think he is stupid. Because Ricky refuses to acknowledge the white man's law, football fans will never know how great he could have been .

Yes of course they would..

BUT, people actually liked Brady before all this went down. He is charismatic. Vick is a jerk who flips off his owns fans. So their wrath would be a little less.

But its not the reason you are thinking....its amzing how people can turn everything into race issue.

By the way. Dog fighting is an awful thing that few people can understand or condone. Using "illegal" substances is something that half of all americans do at some point in their lives. Cant say that about dog fighting can you?

Not only upset but shocked(like some Falcon fans). To be honest, everybody is not perfect. Everybody has secrets that nobody wants them to know. That's just how life is. Since the earliest times. And by the way were in 2007, not in 1467!

Let's just say that way, way, way back in the day, things were handled a little different, Not like now, where it seems like everybody is treated like a king. Let's just remember that back in 1467, books were a form of wealth but in 2007, some people are, "What is a book"? Or "I don't need to read" Everybody likes to get spoil, even the bad ones.
