...clearly designed for gay people to answer?
These people have never been gay, or have they? I mean, aren't we that ones that can honestly answer these questions? No one can tell you what life is like on another planet, unless they have been there, right?
I understand that it's a free country, but what about this....
If I were to go into a Christian section (I'm a recovering christian) and answer all the questions that I could locate with hateful totally UNfounded responses, would that be freedom of speech or is that harassament?
I feel that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but come on...get real. I may be ''speaking out of turn'', but I just don't get it.
The only logical thing that comes to mind is that they are being like this to hurt people, not help them. Or do they actually think they are helping?!?
Please give me your thoughts, and I know all about the trolls, so please don't go there.

Good gracious.....I didn't mean to piss anyone off....just a question...you'd think I ask something really horrible........
So, do any GAY people think I have a point? Since obviously str8 people have added their comments....which is appreciated..don't get me wrong....
Oh, and...if the question is in the LGBT section I will answer it.....deal with it!!

If you are str8 and leave nice honest comments...I ain't talkin' 'bout 'jya..ok?
I have NEVER discriminated against anyone...I DO like the support of hetros, missing the point to the actual question.....

I think the people you're referring to just post to be hateful.
There are lovely, intelligent, open-minded str8 folks here who give great answers and actually do have some insight into gay issues through past experience or gay friends or gay relatives. I value that "outside" perspective.
But the bigots and haters are just here to spew filth and cause trouble.
Let's not even get into the whole "children posting inanity" issue....
I hope I understood your point, and I'm sorry you got crap for your question.

As one of the straight folks often in this section I can see your point. As you know I am supportive of people (not just gay people or straight people, but people). While I do answer a lot of questions on here there are some I do not. I too am a "recovering Christian". Therefore I do not go into that section and attempt to tell those people how I think they should believe and live. I do not do that here either. I do share experiences here, and try to better understand what can be done to further acceptance and equality (they are two different things to me), as well as get to know things about some really decent people.
I am aware that you have no problem with this. Again, though, I think you make a good point.

Because this is a forum and everyone has a right to give their opinion, regardless of their sexual orientation. Frankly I wouldn't have it any other way. I think that this forum provides a means for dialog between gays and straights and that can only help us in the end. So as for me personally, a gay guy, I want to hear all responses from everyone. I know some will be hateful, but that just goes with the territory.
What bugs me is people who ask or answer questions in here that do not accept email. To me that should be a prerequisite for being on here in the first place.
Also what bugs me is that in the answers that some people give they justify all of what they say be quoting scripture. This is sad because it indicates to me that the person is not capable of free and analytical thought.

I do because I'm gay, so I feel obliged to enter my two cents just to counter all the hysterical pseudo-religious nonsense that gets spouted constantly. Although oddly enough not on this particular question - with one or two exceptions, it looks like only cool people answered this.

Because when a person swears blind, unquestioning allegiance to a belief system, they become experts on everything. It's amazing how many Good Christians know more about the way I live my life, my ethics and values, and my relationship with my partner and with God than I do. Of course, their primary sources of information are their minister and church gossip. As in, "a lady at church has a neighbor whose cousin is a lesbian who practices Wicca, which just proves that all homosexuals worship Satan." Silly, I know, but I've seen them reach much more ridiculous conclusions based on less reliable or relevant information. Like, "a child is better off with a mommy and a daddy, therefore, gays shouldn't be allowed to marry." Even if one could find data that supports such a conclusion, wouldn't it be in Society's best interests to provide more support- not less- to an already disadvantaged family structure?

Sometimes I like the responses from straight people, they give me a better understanding of the question as well as the answer, like another point of view. To a point, it can be harassment. A lot of gay-activists are in here, tons of supportive straights. It's wrong for us to say that all straights are going to hate us, it just appears that way in government and religion. When I asked 2 or 3 questions in here, I may have gotten 2 comments from bigots, and they were not as harsh as most of them. They do have the right to post and answer in here-- sometimes they do take it way to far.

I think some people who leave hurtful answers that have nothing to do with the questions about being gay are just trying to "enlighten" either the asker or other gay answerers as to the "truth" of their convictions.
Some of them are doing out of religious fervor. Others do it because they simply have strong opinions. Either way, a helpful answer from another viewpoint is fine, but I agree with you that hurtful and snide answers given for no constructive reason are just there to irritate.

Let face the fact that some answers are going to be in your face harsh.
But, that doesn't mean the person is necessarily a bigot. You may find it hard to accept what they have to say. But, they may truly have a well meaning heart.
A bigot will always be just that. And they will always hide amongst the lilies...
Let your heart be peaceful.. don't fret about the ugliness that devours the joys of life.. just be the person you are.
