An even bigger majority, 83 percent, say the Democratic-controlled Congress is doing only a fair or poor job -- the worst mark for Congress in a Zogby poll.

The best argument to leave the Republicans and Democrats behind. We need to start an Independent movement to throw both parties out of power to punish them for their arogance

There are more than just Democrats in the Congress.

The people elected Democrats into Congress because they wanted them to do things that Democrats are commonly believed to do, whatever that might be.

Therefore, the low approval ratings (which are higher than your source, if you average the top twenty polling agencies in the US) should be seen because the people are not doing Democrat-like things.

Why not?

Well, there are only 51 Democrats in the Senate, which means that as long as the Republicans are unified in their opposition, they can never get a cloture vote through.

To test this theory, try to find out the approval rating of the House of Represenatives and contrast it with the approval rating of the Senate.

If I am right, you will find that the Senate approval rating is what is really low. And that's because a simple majority in the Senate is meaningless in terms of being able to put through a party's legislation. You need that 60-vote.

If all this is true, which it is testable, then your argument just self-cannibalized. :)

Every time bush' ratings go down (which is only because of mainstream media coverage), we hear it day in and day out. Unless you watch fox news or listen to talk radio, the congressional ratings are probably a surprise to.

That's what concerns me.
