One of the great things about this nation is that it will persevere no matter what. If we elect another incompetent, hopefully we'll finally learn our lesson in 2012. Don't worry, we'll still be here.

Every president we have had to this day has had one major flaw it is now with the accessability of the internet and media that we can use our digital recording devices to see just about every single flaw... It doesn't matter who we elect the truth is we as Americans reserve the right to complain about others because it is easy to see their flaws than look back on our own... If I were president I would make mistakes and by chance have a few success's... The simple fact is no one agrees on anything in America our freedom is corrupt and our justice is perverted right and wrong are simple as your point of view so liberty and persuit of happiness will have to take the backseat until society evolves again...
Hopefully it does...

I'm disappointed with the current field of people running for president, both Democratic and Republican. While I think that someone, who I don't really like, will probably be the next president, I don't really think that he/she will be capable of destroying the country. Even though the president gets a lot of publicity, I believe that congress and the supreme court have enough power to limit the president's screw-ups.
That said, I'm really disappointed with most politicians in general, congressmen, senators, president, governor... you name it. I wish there were other major parties, who actually had a chance of winning, besides Democrats and Republicans, neither one of those parties actually represents anywhere close to what I believe in. I might agree with each major party on, maybe, 15 % of its issues; but that's still a heck of a lot of disagreement that I have with them too.
Also Bush is not the ideal president, but I've read in history books that every president who holds the office in times of war is very unpopular. Even wars that they like to make like everyone agreed with, like World War I and World War II, people (in general) hated Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt during those wars. So who knows, things might not be as bad as they seem, and Bush could even be looked upon in a good light in 30-years? It's hard to judge these things.
Overall, I'm not satisfied with the United States; but I'm not sure that it's anywhere near the end yet.

I don't think Bush is totally to blame for the problems of this country. I think this has been a long time coming. Politicians today have forgotten that they represent the people, not their special interest groups, or the rich, but all of us....And I mean both Democrats, and Republicans......The only time they have any interest in the American people, is when they want to get elected...once elected, all promises are swept under the rug and forgotten....We're hurting as a country, will a new president do better....Doubt it...

Well I think that people have totally different opinions of what should be happening with the country. I think the next president will be unpopular at times as well because not everybody will be happy with what happens.

I don't think the country will "self-destruct". I think if we elect someone that is more focused on keeping poll numbers at home looking good, rather than the pursuit of our interests across the globe, we could be in a very bad position in the coming years.

No matter who gets elected, they will blame the previous administration, and be out in 4-8 years so they do not have to take responsibility for their actions.

the sad thing is out of despair we may feel forced to go with the current 2 party system. It would be nice if the lemmings realized we can pick whoever we want.

The President, and our Congress are all puppets, controlled by The Corporations, so if the corps. want us to collapse then that is when it will happen.
