It would seem to fit their ideals. You have socialized healthcare (whish is just so darn good), cheap pharmacueticles, many social programs where the government babies you and does everything for you, they are very pollitically correct, they rarely go to war or make a stand for defending anything since they rely on the US to do that and the eastern part of the country has a huge French influence! What is not to like for the libs. It wouldn't even be a huge move to make. Even Hollywood is making more movies there... (since they can't afford their unions)

I just can't see why they aren't leaving in record numbers... especially since they hate this country so much.

bush_missed... don't be silly enough to equate modern day liberals with our forefathers... that is a slap in the face to them...

Elway... once again "stretching" the truth. Let's first address who you "claim" supports universal health care.

Mike Huckabee... care to look at his website? Second point down...

http://www.explorehuckabee.com/index.cfm?FuseAction=Issues.View&Issue_ID=8

"We don't need universal health care mandated by federal edict."

Mitt Romney...

Wednesday, Apr 04, 2007
"Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney spoke to more than 100 people at the Colony Mill Marketplace in Keene this morning, touching on support for the 2nd Amendment, more funding for troops, the need to develop alternative sources of energy and keeping health care a free-market system.

Your referenced article states:

"Half of Republican Voters Support Some Type of Universal Health Care System, Survey Finds"

Key words being "some type". I wonder what that would be referenced too? Perhaps they all still want Medicare.

Elway...

Giuliani is hardley a republican. And yes, I like the guy in a lot of instances but not in any support for universal health care.

Elway,

I do like our discourses because you give more than the because you offer more than the stupid little one liner answers. While I dissagree that I was "trounced" in our last discourse... I believe it was you who chose not to answer most of the rebuttle questions and then you who chose to end the discussion. I believe you were trounced and ran out of explinations. Unfortunately you deleted half of your answer.

As for this issue, at least you can see (or I think you can) that your statements tried to make it appear as though all these Republican's were for "Hillary Care". There was no context for the poll. Some form could mean just reform for Medicare.

To get to the real point though. What would the ramifications government provided health care be? You know what?.... I'll ask it in a question... just to see how it is answered.

Then they would have to flock right back to get surgeries they have to wait in line for over there.

I think libs feel compelled by their ambition to rewrite this country in their own image and living off the patriotism of their fathers and grandfathers.

They don't hate their country, they love their country, just as much as you do. If the liberals are the only ones who believe in Universal Health Care, what are you calling all the Republicans who think it's a good idea? That would include Huckabee, Romney and Ahhnold. Also:

http://www.kaisernetwork.org/daily_reports/rep_index.cfm?DR_ID=45932
"About half of Republican voters support universal health care and an increasing number consider themselves conservative, according to a survey by Republican consultant Tony Fabrizio, The Hill reports. Fabrizio polled 2,000 self-described Republican voters and compared the results to a similar survey conducted 10 years ago.

Fifty-one percent of Republicans said they believe universal health care should be a right of every U.S. resident, according to the survey. However, Fabrizio said that the "devil is in the details" on health care and that creating a plan the entire 51% could agree upon would be difficult. The survey shows that 71% of respondents consider themselves conservative, a 16% increase over the results of the 1997 survey."

Wow, it must be tough when at least half of your own party won't stoop to calling everyone liberals who thinks our health care system is broken and needs a complete overhaul. That's okay, you keep at it though. We know, everyone who doesn't agree with the far right wing has become a liberal right, even in your own party!

Canada? The place where so many who hate Hillary Clinton claim they're going to move to when she wins the Presidency? They're real bright too, going to a basically socialist country to avoid the socialism they're so sure she's going to magically install in our country. Funny.

EDIT: Yes, SOME type of Universal Health Care is something most people are interested in. I didn't give any specifications. Some feel it should be mandated state by state, like something Arnold S. set up in CA. Romney set a flawed system of it up in his own state. So far the details are sketchy for just about anyone who thinks it's a good idea. But most people are willing to listen to different plans, hoping one of them will make sense for our country.

I do apologize about Huckabee. He wants to make sweeping changes in health care, but not by federal edict, so you are correct, he is not for UHC.

Giuliani? I didn't even address his stance.

But it's clear that a large percentage of Americans are willing to listen to plans and details for UHC, yes, including many Republicans.

And lol, what was that about "once again?" In our last discourse you were firmly trounced with facts I provided. Sorry you didn't like it, but there was no truth-stretching involved.

Mr.Perfect. What an appropriate name. Since I am a Canadian, I will respond from a Canuck point of view(mine anyway). Many social programs where the Government babies you? WTF? Yes, we take care of our weakest, the ones in need of help, isn't that what a responsible Government does? Rarely go to war. We entered both World Wars ahead of the U.S., we were with you in Korea, Vietnam, Bosnia, Somalia, Afghanistan and to say we rely on the US only shows your ignorance of anything outside of your own borders. French influence??? We are a bilingual Country, founded by the English and French and have recognized the contributions of both in our Constitution. That's a bad thing? The rest of your question is a ramble so I won't dignify it with a response. You are a great Nation, start acting like one, not acting like a bully just because you can. You took a hit that fateful morning, shake it off, come back stronger, better for it. Not everyone is out to get you and it takes 2 sides, Liberals and Conservatives to keep each other in check and to complete anything. Try to remember history and why you fought for your independence from the bully of that era instead of becoming just like those to fought to free yourselves from. Just a neighbor talking here, not trying to be insulting or thinking that I know what is best for you all. You choose your own destiny every 4 years. Choose wisely...

For ShinerKazzan or whatever your name is. When did Belize burn your White House to the ground. Our military is one of the most respected in the World, ask someone who has been there. As far as your little comment on getting on knees. I'd tell you where to go but you'd get lost. Here's some easy directions, when you get to Maine, head north east into New Brunswick, when you get there e-mail me from my profile, I'll give you further directions on how to get to my place and we'll see who gets on their effing knees. AHole.

Another dumb @ss attack on the non-existant liberal strawman. I see all the usual suspects are enumerated. The 'point' of a 'question' as above is to attempt to get people to defend the strawman...Let's see where to begin to deconstruct the posters argument! Nobody has suggested socilized health CARE. The subject is affordable health INSURANCE. The 'social programs' are never spelled out...this begs the question..exactly what 'social programs' are you talking about. Canada has gone to war with the US plenty of times...where this complaint comes from is a real mystery. What has 'French' influence have to do with anything? Another mystery. Hollywood? How relevent is that? Zero! And last, the strawman hates America! I guess since this liberal strawman only exists in the mind of the guy that posted the 'question' he'll have to explain how a non-existant entity can 'hate' anyone. We're waiting!

Liberals don't hate this country. We dislike the way its being governed.

Anyway, we'd rather fix up the country that needs it badly than run away from problems [or start wars].

Actually they are as well as many other European countries such as Holland. This one of the primary reasons why we have such an education void in this country and why the Republican government is so eager to outsource AMerican jobs and bring in foreign talent via HB-1 visas. Because so many intelligent liberal educated Americans are moving abroad.

see the down side to that would be admitting you are Canadien and knowing that a country like Belieze could invade you... causing you to get on your hands and knees with a red leather collar and blow America until they decided to help protect you from Belieze..........

that and you would have to be proud that your country made Tom Green famous for 15 mintues...
