i had my first scan today after taking my first round of clomid. i was told that i had 6 folicles -normally there is 2 or occasionally 3. the nurse advised me to think about trying as there is such a high risk of a multiple pregnancy.what would you do? would more than one child at once be such a bad thing? has anyone else has the same/simalar experiance? any advice will be great!

You know what? You need to examine yourself and think about the responsability--emotional and financial--and make a decision based on that.

If it were me personally, and I was trying to conceive and could not and I could take care of multiples, I would do consider it a blessing to have more than one child after trying so hard for just one.

Whatever you choose to do, it should come from the heart. God bless you!

My sister has fraternal boy/girl twins, natural though. They are a wonderful blessing to my whole family. My sister is amazing because she also has a 2.5 year old girl (who is a great help with her brother and sister) and she takes care of them in ways i would have never imagined. I don't know how it is so easy for her to pick up all 3 at one time!! and i've watched her do it! i think i would fall over. Anyway, she was scared of having the twins, but there were few complications with her pregnancy, but she did need a c-section because one of the twins was inverted and was unable to pass vaginally.

Remember that 1 in 5 eggs produced is viable for fertilization and implantation. Even though you have 6 follicles, you may have only one or two lead follicles that are of the right size (usually 16 mm or larger is a sign of a mature follicle). All of the follicles may ovulate, but you probably won't get more then 1 or 2 viable eggs.

Also, if you do have multiples, you can always reduce the pregnancy safely.

My guess is that if you have been taking clomid, there have been infertility issues. If you have infertility problems it is likely to conceive again you would have to repeat the entire cycle of drug taking. If on the other hand you were to conceive 1 or 2 or 3 babies this time and you are mentally and financially prepared for it, what have you got to lose. I was on clomid for over a year and did not conceive. You have to be willing to take a risk. You may never get this opportunity again.

I have a clomid baby!! I also have 2 sets of natural twins. No more than one at a time is not bad. Yes it is harder but not bad. I would try. I only had one with clomid you never know. Just think you could have all the children you want with one pregnancy who would not want that? If you do get pregnant and you have more than one it will be a shock at 1st but you will learn to do things your own way, your own routines. Good Luck!

What would I do?

As my dreams always include twins, I would push on and accept the gift of life that has been given to me. They can reimplant fewer eggs, so the chances of extreme multiples are lower.

Go for it, if you want children then no, a multiple birth wouldn't be a bad thing.

I wish you well.

i cant tell you what to do, or what you should do, and i have never been in your situation,

i have been ttc for 5 years now with no success. i think if the doctor told me that there was a heightened chance of multiple birth, i would take it, cos how hard it is for me to conceive, i may never get the chance to get pregnant again.

if you are ready for more than one child i say GO FOR IT!!

Wow, that would be my dream. I would love to have that problem.

If you were to conceive more than one baby, that is just more to love.
