Siblings can shape the personality. It helps or it diminishes self-esteem, it will be the foundation in which, when they get older, will determine the outcome of their life. It can also harbor competitiveness, in which one can strive to being better than the other, and this can also help in work places, but it can reciprocate and be detrimental.

Well I grew up a single child for 7 or 8 years, i wasn't very social or anything. But i was really nice
Then my mom met her ex, his kids were the same age as me and a year older. They were more outgoing than me and everything.
they broke up a few years ago and my mom met her husband, they have a kid together and a kid from his ex.
my dad also has a kid with his wife.
I've learned i'd do anything for my brothers.
so in all. I think siblings help you be less selfish, can help you love, give you hope and pride for the things they accomplish.
but if your around the same age, they make you more outgoing, and ect
