The Archdiocese of Los Angeles policy states:
All priests found to have abused minors have been permanently removed from ministry in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Priests involved in credible reports of abuse are removed from ministry pending the results of investigations by law enforcement and the Archdiocese's lay-majority Clergy Misconduct Oversight Board.

Yes, this is highly worrisome. Who is to say that they won't continue their pedophilia somewhere else? If being a priest is so important as a spiritual station in the Catholic church, then why not treat it that way and expel the people who do wrong? To an *entire fellowship of people* who are supposed to be under their spiritual guidance, no less?? I don't know if they realize the damage this kind of thing does!
It makes me really wonder-- this is the same group of people who would easily excommunicate a man for being gay, or a congregation for trying to install a female priest, but when a male priest begins molesting children, they just don't do a thing except deny it, then pay out some cash, and shuffle people around like a deck of cards, as if not seeing him anymore in one church will make everyone happy when all he does is show up somewhere else.
Personally, I think the Vatican doesn't care about what their priests do, and that it's more about keeping power in the ranks. These priests have a lot of influence and will probably try to go higher in the Catholic church at a later point.
Obviously, to them, some sins are greater than others, and even the worst ones have no consequences when done by their own people.

The Catholic's church's actions are being severely punished monetarily...to the tune of 660 million dollars in LA alone. I suspect they will change their ways soon, for people are dropping out of the church at an alarming rate...doesn't alarm me, but I am sure it alarms the Catholic Church..Me..I doubt that I could care less. I am left to wonder what the hell was wrong with me when I was a kid...no priest ever made a pass at me..was I that ugly? That wierd? Hmmmm leaves me with an inferiority complex, to say the least.

There is the verse: You are a priest forever. God doesn't abandon his lost sheep, especialy those in need of His help & mercy. However, for the good of the priest & his flock, those who suffer from pedophilia need therapy or a ministry that will not feed the beasts within.

wrong category.
mistakenly equated with homosexuality usually by non-glbt people.
"Pedophilia or pædophilia (see spelling differences) is the paraphilia of being sexually attracted strongly or even exclusively to prepubescent or early pubertal children. Pedophilia is described as a mental disorder by standard diagnosis manuals, including the DSM IV and ICD-10. A person with this attraction is called a pedophile or paedophile."

I left the Church over this issue. It is absolutely amazing that the Church is still covering up this issue and excusing it.

I feel that it is negligent and down right abominable that the church does not take action against pedophiles within their ranks.

I do think that it's unfair. They committed a violent act upon a child and the church is basically turning their back it. That's more than unfair...it's wrong...
