Play guitar. I play both. I started playing drums at a young age and then moved on to guitar. You are somewhat limited to what you can do while playing drums. Electric guitar is the exact opposite. You can always add a new pedal or use a different amp to get a different sound. Drums are cool if you're jamming with other people, but I personally get bored pretty quick when playing by myself. When you play guitar you can play a song that actually sounds like the song and not just another drum beat. This is just my opinion.

Play what you think you will enjoy playing more. Ever since I was a little kid, I would tap my fingers on the table or whatever else I could find to make different rhythms. I also love the rhythms in music. So I chose to play the drums.

The drums do have some drawbacks. For example, you can't play notes with a drum kit.

Think about what you love most about music. Is it the rhythm and beat of the song or is it the notes and chords that are played.

If you're not rhythmically talented don't play the drums, and if you're tone deaf don't play the guitar. Otherwise, choose the instrument that you find most interesting even if it seems harder to play.

I started playing the guitar first. It's a little easier to start off with. Once you feel that you've mastered the guitar (or you're not good enough or got bored with it), go to the drums set! The drums are a little more complexed, though. You gotta keep up with the rhythm.

Like another user said, there is no shortage of lead guitar players. Every second teenage guy I know plays electric- if you want to be noticed and make it into more than a hobby, you have to practice very very hard and develop your own style that will make you stand out. If you play bass however, you may find your progress a little quicker and joining a good band easier. Depending on what style, bass players get a lot of attention too and solo opportunities. If you love both, why not pay one on the side just for kicks and play the other one seriously?

guitar is quieter, so you wont annoy everyone in the house all the time. plus, learn a few chords and boom, you have a song. Drums are not bad and i wish i had a set.
