One of them was to assume that the Earth was molten, and has been cooling ever since. This gives an age that is older than the 6000 years quoted by religious nuts, and the number 75,000 years old stands out in my mind. Irregardless of that, it was calculated before scientists knew about radioactive heating due to (mostly) uranium, thorium and potassium. These elements keep the Earth's interior molten and extend the age of the Earth long past that outdated method.
