Well as the stories I have read goes, any of the base metals are suppose to have that same effect.... And for years thru out history any form of metal are suppose to stop evil in its tracks..................................................................................... From what I understand gold was added to that list during medieval times.....................................................................

I never heard of gold , I have heard of wearing certain stones. crystals. Is supposed to. I don't wear jewerly so I would not know.

iron is meant to... and a red ribbon.
gold is not as strong in warding off evil as iron is.
in some communities they put an iron knife under the baby's pillow to ward of evil
