...due in October, and when I mention this to people their either think its really cute or a dog's name!! What does anyone else think because it seems to be sticking, my partner and mother-in-law likes it also. I'm just a little wary of it also being the name of a Tweenie character!! Thinking of the middle name being Grace and the surname is Rhodes. Any thoughts on this, or any other name suggestions?? Sensible answers only please!! Thanks in advance. xxx

a lot of people think Isabella is a nice alternative, but my daughter is called Gabrielle and people often call her Gabriella so that would sound a bit daft!!

I think Bella is beautiful, literally. If you're not fond of Bella perhaps you could try ISABELLA to give it a little more depth and call her Bella for short. Isabella Grace Rhodes. I think it has a great catch to it. The name will always be special to since her big sissy picked it. That's way too cute.

Hi, I like the name Bella and i think it would be a wonderful idea for a name. The thing is, Grace doesnt flow with the name... Bella Grace Rhodes... i think the middle name has to end in A for it to flow. But then the first name would rhyme with the last kind of it ended in A. So maybe just Bella Rhodes? Or you could have Bella Claire Rhodes. Because of the ire it flows. Or any name that ends kinda sounding the same. Does that make sense? lol

Bella Marie Rhodes
Bella Ada Rhodes

Or whats your name? Because if it goes then it would be nice to use maybe?

Gud luck xx

I think it is a beautiful name, and if you like it don't worry about it. Some people give dogs people names and Bella is just one of them. I know several Maggie's, Molly's and Sandy's some are dogs and some are people. I actually have a dog named Belle. But when I hear the name, I think of it as a person's name, not a dog's name. I also agree with the answerer who suggested naming your daughter Isabella and calling her Bella. Both are pretty names and when she gets older if she doesn't like being called Bella, she can switch to Isabella.

I like Bella, but not Isabella.

Isabella Grace Rhodes sounds great, but,

Isabella Rhodes doesn't sound too good.

It almost sounds too much like a question to me if you say it out loud.

Is a bell a rose?

Now, Isabell Rhodes sounds better, plus it will mean you havn't got quite a link to Gabrielle/Gabriella. You can always call her Isabell and just shorten it to Bella anyway, you don't need to have the 'a' on the end.

I love the name Bella. That's always been my nickname in my family. Don't ask how they got that from Claire?! I think it's cute she's suggested a name. It'll make her feel apart of this very exciting time for you all. I'm not expecting, but I've got a long list of names already. There's always at least one person who has something mean to say. If you and your partner love the name, then just forget what other people have said. I wish I hadn't said anything to some people, because they've slatted my favourites.

I am liking Bella! Unusual but not off the wall. I always try to imagine how the child would feel say at the age of 35 with a professional job where they want to be taken seriously............... Bella still sounds good! I like think the idea that many others have suggested - Isabella is a good compromise if you have any concerns!

Good luck for the birth - you are braver woman than me!

I think Bella is a beautiful name. My daughter's name is Brooklyn Isabella (she was almost Isabella Grace) and she goes by Bella. When we named her, Bella was much more uncommon than it is now. I recently heard a beautiful name that I wish I would have know of when naming my daughter:
Arabella. I think it is a wonderful alternative to Isabella, and it goes beautifuly with Grace. Good luck!

Yeah i know what you mean about the Tweenies.

We had already decided on Jacob Luke - for a boy and i really liked Bella but then we discovered the Tweenies and realised it was not the best idea!!!

We have settled for Elinor Ruby!!! Equally as beautiful though.

I am happy to have one Tweenie option but two was just a bit too much!!!

My daughter's name is Isabella and we call her Bella. Like many people said, it's a good option. Everyone seems to think Isabella is a beautiful name.

Just for you info, the name Isabella means beautiful star - it's an Italian name. And Bella means beautiful in Italian and other Latin languages.

Also the name being similar to your other daughter's name is kinda cute, too.

Bella is a beautiful name and i think having your daughter help name the baby is a great idea, it can help with avoiding jealusy and let your daughter know that she is going to be an important part in the new baby's life and as far as a middle name there are plenty of names to go with Bella, maybe Bella Rose
