Sounds like the resistor cluster needs to be replaced. On high the blower motor is sent full battery voltage. On the other settings it goes through resistors to reduce the voltage so the motor spins slower. On the 2001 Dakota the resistor cluster is located above the passengers foot well.

If you are talking about the resistor pack, then it should be close to the fan, in the ducting. If the fan works OK on high, but no other speed, then it is probably the resistor pack. You can find it by finding the fan, then close to it, there should be a group of 4-6 wires that go to a part of the duct. The connector is usually held on by 1 or 2 screws.

I believe there is a seperate fuse for the high speed position. So the other one may be blown, you can check it on the fuse block. If it's OK, then time to look at the blower resistor.

If it works on high, the fuse is good. Look to the switch, or the resistor mounted in the air box as probable causes of the problem.

look at or for the blower resistor ,more than likely thats the problem
