Since my questions are usually somewhat serious in nature, I genuinely like/enjoy reading each answer and choose the best one based on how it makes me feel in relationship to my question. I don't consider what others think about the answers because the answer impacts me on my decision making.
But, if it was a joking question, one that doesn't require any thought, I kind of look at what others think about the posted responses to see if the answers evoked laughter and smiles from my yahoo friends.
I love this forum.

i choose the answer that is the most thoughtful/informative, and sometimes i do consider the thumbs up/down..but most of the time ppl just screw around with the thumbs up/down because they want to get the best answer themselves....and sometimes i give the best answer to the person with the least points in total to make their day (if all the answer provided aren't that good in general).

I always read all of my answers and it depends on what type of question it is.
If it is a serious question, I pick the most informative answer that helps answer my question.
If it is a question that is humourous, I pick the one that tickles my funny bone.
It gets harder and harder because there are so many good answers. That is when I look at the thumbs up. I don't pay any mind to the thumbs down.
Enjoy your day!

I try not to let familiarity with the answerer or the amount of stars/thumbs up influence my decision.
I read each answer carefully; noting any that stand out and then go back to my short list and read them again and choose one based on the relevance to the question and wit/intelligence.

I take time to read throught all the answers (twice usually), and see who has given the question the most thought and effort, and who just answered to get the two points. I hope I helped you!

Nothing influences my decision. I always go with the one that I think deserves it.
Edit: You do realize you've done it again. Now you're going to have to pick another best answer... LOL.

Depends, but usually the one that has the most sense and makes me laugh. A good sense of humor along with common sense is a phenomena and rare gift.

I just go with the one that 'feels' right. It may or may not be, it doesn't really matter, it's not life and death. So if I get it wrong sometimes well que serra, serra. You too have a wonderful day. Nice to have a tan.

Thumbs don't interest me. Funny answers, creative answers or sometimes a very interesting one although maybe it is not what i asked;)
But sometimes it is very difficult because there are more than one interesting answers:)
