The hit would be $6 million-plus for 2007 and about $15 million for 2008.

Hefty, but manageable.

And actually, he'd be scheduled to hit about 9.5 million anyway, so they're only out an additional 6 million, plus the cost of a new QB.

Well, if they have to pay him his salary anyway, then no affect at all, except they will probably not be able to afford a top notch QB for a while.

If they somehow could do it without paying his salary, it would open up room to get a good QB, or possibly a few players at other positions.

Under the current agreement as I understand it, the league cannot suspend him until he is proven guilty because he is a first time offender (or at least this is the first thing he has been caught and charged for).

I doubt the team will do anything until they have to. Vick will be hurt by loss of endorsements regardless of his guilt or innocence. They are not going to want to be dragged through the mud with him for several months. Lots of people are disgusted by the allegation and are already bad mouthing him. Watch for the endorsements to fade soon.

The club takes a full hit for the salary that is owed him. At this point, the Falcons shouldn't worry about that issue and get rid of Vick today. Management has stood by him for too long...which may have been the biggest problem.

the nfl would allow them to defer some of that money and still be able to sign players with an exception---the nfl will not ruin its presentation because a player screwed up you have to remember all the teams want the other teams to make money so the whole league grows so they will take care of thier own

Maybe they will be able to get a team together instead of just a few individuals. I think this could be one of the best things to happen to this team in the long run.
