It seems very unlikely, though you can probably count on the Russians and Chinese being less than supportive of any UN initiatives proposed either as alternatives to accomplish the same aims, or to lay a foundation for such an action.

What it comes down to is that the Russians and Chinese know that fighting America is not an option, but that obstruction and quiet support of it's enemies will frustrate and weaken it, opening up future opportunities for themselves - even if it does have unpleasant consequences for the world.

@Komodo is physically powerful on some factors yet on relax is incorrect. the thought the united statesis only not invaded is a pretend generosity. If a third international war replaced into to take place, the US may be up against 2 out of three of the worlds tri-supremacy. the US up against Russia and China will reason a great confusion, not only that however the US additionally has the threats of the protection stress and the naval arms of those international locations. not only that the specter of the factions allies. WWIII might as a rule be a war between the communists, or anti-American international locations vs US and the capitalist international locations. So the thought the US out of combating 2 huge enemies, staring at over its allies, combating on distinctive fronts, have huge casualties, and over the possibility of nuclear arms, and place of beginning protection, that the US won't have any room for an blunders, is a pretend perfect. the US soil can't be untouched perpetually, and if a great war performed out like WWIII the US would be invaded faster or later. maximum probably via an air drop, paratroopers would be the terrific way that US may be invaded. some human beings might whinge that we've the terrific air stress yet human beings ignore, so does Russia. And with the aggregate of distinctive assaults, diverting the troops to distinctive places, the possibility of an invasion touchdown on our soil is a likable risk.

Russia opposes our intervention in Iran because they are selling iran lots of expensive equipment. Militarially Russia is a paper tiger. Their government is bankrupt, their soldiers are underpaid when they are paid, and they cant keep deicing fluid around for aircraft because the troops are drinking it (alcohol based). While they have a large military, its combat capability is almost nonexistant. Additionally, we have demonstrated in every military action against countries armed with russian and chinese equipment that it is far inferior to ours and doesnt make the grade. Look at our two fights with Iraq. Kuwait is littered with the rusting hulls of Russian built tanks that our abrams killed with impunity. We suffered more friendly fire losses on our armor than the enemy killed with Russian equipment. The Russians would probably make a lot of noise, but if we offered them a contract to produce ammunition for the conflict, they would probably offer to send troop support. South Korea is an ally and wouldnt be a problem. North Korea and its leader Kim Jung mentally-ill is in worse shape than the russians and is all noise. Nothing a decent sniper couldnt correct. Additionally, of all of the members of the nuclear club, only russia has missiles capable of reaching the US mainland. China is working on it with their long march program but still has a way to go. North Korea hasnt even managed to build anything in the 1 meagaton range yet, and they dont have a missile to launch it with if they had. You worry needlessly.

I heard there is a treaty between Iran and Russia that basically makes them allies. They have agreed not to attack one another or threaten attack. Russia has also sold a lot of weapons to Iran (of course, so has the US).However, your question makes it sound like Iran would be the aggressor towards the US. In this case, I'm not sure Russia would do anything. If the US were to invade Iran, however, I think Russia would get involved.

There be no war, Iran's president has already showed signs of weakness, by the good relations Bush has with Russia, is the added bonus compliments of your leader, Iran have already unofficially surrendered. Iran is not willing to wage a war against against the US, on the possibility Russia will aid them, not anymore.

Of course that's probably why we haven't taken the Iranian regime out YET, Russia and Iran are partners in crime, or to be precise I should say Ahmadinejad and Putin, and together they pose a great threat to the US, Britain, Israel and they know it, hence the universal unrest and tension, Russia supply's the ammo and know how to the Iranian for big money, and the Iranians specialize in using it to murder our troop's in Iraq/Afghanistan, Hezbollah in the Gaza strip, preparing to strike Israel, that's Iran too, everything is connected.

Considering the situation in Chechnya, Russia would not stand on the side of Islamic fundamentalism. They'd simply sit it out, so as to not anger either side.

Nah...Don't think so. Russians do a lot of business in the US now. A lot of the money goes back there. Once western culture comes to a place, it's hard to revert to communism.
Who knows for sure though> Doubt it though.
