It's not a contest. It's a different kind of love that you have for friends than you do your lover. It doesn't make one less than the other, it's just different.

That depends all on time. Not how long you’ve had your friends but rather how long your had your “love”. I think that sense you refer to them as “lover” they should hold some secure position in your life. When we make love or choose to love someone we allow that person to be a bigger part of our life. The people we might spend the rest of our lives with should get the majority of our attention. “Not all, but most”......believe me your friends will do the same someday.

I suppose I'm really lucky, because I am lovers with my best friend ... who is also my husband. I also love my other friends, and the 'best' of those I've 'informally adopted' to be my siblings. It's not a matter of 'more' as much as it is a matter of 'different' ... but I do love them 'all the same' ...

Of course I love my lover more, but that is becuase of the closeness we have and pretty much he is my best friend. All of my friends have my love, just not in the same context of how I love my boyfriend.

one of the toughest questions... you can't compare a friend to a lover. only a friend to a friend & a lover to a lover. but i'd say it truly depends on the person.

Love is not all in one limited volume vat. Love for anyone creates more love. The love you have for your friends is one kind, for family, another kind, for a lover, a third kind and so on and on and on.

One proof of true love is that it does not seek to limit the other loves in your life!

Friends...even though love for friends is different than romantic love for a partner, the friends were there before the partner entered my life, and likely will be there after he's gone.

However, ideally one's partner is also their friend...and in that case there would be multiple levels of love for that person, and he'd fall into both categories (but may or may not survive as a friend, if the romantic relationship should end).

I'm trying to figure out, why you can't figure out - the obvious difference here.

The love each of us has for a significant other is normally, paramount in out lives, with friends and all others coming in line second (you know, "cleaving" unto the one you profess to love?!).
If this person is truly, just a casual lover (pathetic) then what's in question? If, however, you are committed to him, then act like it. If you are not, dump him.

Friends remain forever, providing you don't wear them out with this silly type of confusion repeatedly - revolving men in and out of your life.

Get a grip.
