Do people actually chose best answer because they think it's the best answer?

Or do the just pick the answer they agree with the most.

Depends on the question. If it's something that the person needs information on like "how do I apply for a teaching certificate", they will probably pick the best answer.

If it's an opinion question, like "my boyfriend keeps cheating on me and tells me "shut up, I'll do what I want" and then punches me in the face. Should I leave him? I love him so much and I know I can change him. What do you think?" then they pick the one that tells them to stay with him over the 300 that say to leave, because it's what they want to hear and they just want validation.

Even more annoying is when they pick an answer that makes no sense, and then leave a comment like "thanks Billy, we tore up that party last night, huh", just to give their friend a best answer.

My vote is that people chose the answer they agree with it most. As humans we tend to want to be right, which would mean the answer we agree with the most should be the right answer. I would like to think that sometimes we actually get it right. But only sometimes.

I am sure that people pick the answer that they most likely agree with... If not pick their own... LOL... That's what most people probably do.

Probably the one they agree with, unless it's a specific knowledge-type question, then they'll probably choose the actual best answer.

In some sections there is a best answer. In others (relationsips) they pick the one that makes them feel good even if it's totaly the worst one. I like the polotical ones that don't even ask a question, they just rant.

I do and give thumbs up for others that take the time to answer my question, even if I don't agree with the person.

I've had my answer picked as best even though the questioner disagreed with me.

I have seen little girls asking if they should have sex with "some guy" and picking as their best answer the one person out of 35 answers who thinks they should.

No i think some of them like a cool answer or one that makes them laugh the most and some wait until they see alot of thumbs up and then pick it. Hey pick me pick me pick me. lol

Well arent the 2 thing s u said the same thing? They agree with it the most, therefore they think it's the best answer, b/c that is how they feel.

But i do read all the responses to my questions, and try to give the all important best answer rating to the right receiver....after all, that's 10 points right there! : )
