Is it just greed by food companies or is there is real motivating force behind making most of the US population overweight and a high proportion obese?

I'm not sure I would go that far, but at the rate they are cutting physical education from the curriculum and feeding fast food everyday to our kids in the school lunch rooms, it does seem rather suspicious. Either that it is out of sheer stupidity on the part of the administrators in the school systems.
Rebel against the system, buy organic and stay away from fast food and all processed food. No one knows what they really put in that stuff, especially if it is made in China.

The motivating force behind current obesity are the negative control dramas of the human psyche identified in the Renaissance by Dante (period of history? ) as Sloth, Greed, and Gluttony.
With modern medical science humans could be so much healthier in body and probably most of the world could have basics like food, shelter and health care. We are our own worst enemies. To change the world we must change ourselves.

You just hit on one of my very favorite conspiracy theories. I believe they have tainted our food to the point of making us sick and fat. Then we have to go to the Drs. The Drs. give us drugs that has such horrible side effects they have to give us more drugs. I am not fat. I stay with fruit, veggies and when I buy meat I buy it from a market that sells clean meat. No antibiotics etc. I am rarely sick other than a cold maybe every 2-3 yrs. I believe in preventative health measures. And am not on pharmaceuticals.

No, public education is a government engineered plot to make people weak and lazy (intellectually).

My goal is to sell products . If its food then I must put salt and sugar in it to excite your taste buds so you enjoy it .
People never just eat food as it is anymore .
The bourgeoisies added seasonings to food to make it taste better and they tended to sit around drinking and eating and telling others what to do .
Next time you want a meal try it without all the additives and then tell me lines would form to eat such food .
So it is the intent of those who sell food to sell as much as possible regardless of the health effects .

A conspiracy? It's out in the open, for those who care to do the research! Our American "watch-dogs" have FAILED us.

They are doing so in our media, in our unchecked and unbalanced government, and finally in our health industry as well. The mighty dollar is the bottom line because Capitalism has run amok, just as our early founders predicted would happen.

No government plot. Good grief!
Food companies are in business to make money. No one is forcing anyone to buy one food over another. It is merely their choice. By the way not all fat people are fat from over eating. Some have medical conditions that make them fat or are taking medication that makes them gain weight.

What, did the government buy a majority stock in McDonald's or some other fast food restaurant? That is just silly.
