I think your husband should get full marks for resourcefulness but what a bunch of self-serving crap! I think he would have to acknowlege that the Bible itself says nothing about nighties or thongs. He is using the Bible to control you - not very respectful.

If you want to wear those things, go right ahead, but do it because you want to.

You have been married 15 years and this is just coming up now?

Well, is your husband abiding by Ephesians 5:33 where god asks: Each one of you also must love his wife? Is he loving you? According to Corrinthian 13: 4-8, Love is described as this:
Love is patient, Love is kind,
It does not envy, it does not boast,
It is not proud, It is not rude,
It is not self-seeking,
It is not easily angered,
It keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil,
but rejoices with the truth.
Love always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres.
Love bears all things, believes all things,
hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends.

*** only you can answer whether or not YOUR HUSBAND is showing biblical LOVE towards you. Good luck.

Ohh he didnt go there did he. Well you tell your husband although the bible said Wives, submit to yoru husband as to the lord. Tell him to keep on reading as the Lord did say -- in Verse -28 So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; and Verse-29 for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church. I am sure he will NOT like to be be foreced into doing something he does not feel comfortable about, so why should he ask you to do something you not comfortable with.
I dont see anything wrong wearing sexy lingerie who knows you may enjoy it and you also have the option to also ask him to wear something that is please to you and just in case he gives you an objections tell him in verse 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and give Himself to her. As your husband can use the word in his defense so can you.

While I do believe that the bible says a woman should submit herself to her husband, I don't see anywhere in those particular scriptures (or anywhere in the bible) that says you must wear sexy nighties. Your husband is clearly trying to manipulate you through using the bible for his own wants and desires. But let me ask you, why wouldn't you want to wear them for him? The bible talks also about fidelity and keeping only to yourselves. After 15 years of marriage, be happy your husband still wants you to dress up for him. Now if you don't want him looking elsewhere to get what he can't get at home, I think I'd go out and do a little shopping Missy. Good luck.

Well, in biblical times, I do not think that thongs were thought of, so we know that is not what the bible means by those parts you were quoted. However, if wearing those items do not make you feel degraded or hurt you in some way, then please your husband. I am sure he is doing things that he is not happy about for you too. We all need to do that to make relationships work. You are not always going to be excited about everything in a relationship but the bible teaches that women should please men. It also states that the man should treat his wife as he would the church, so that is something for hubby to think about if he is not sacrificing for you too.

As for "Golly Geesh", your answer is totally ridiculous. Yes the bible was written and interpreted by Men but that does not make it anymore invalid than if it was written by Women. Remember who God created first and how he created Women. You want to blame that on us too?

God is a wonderful thing man twisted the words of the bible the words of Jesus. Have your FAITH but, don't be lead into blind control. Words can be used in ways to mean many things :"think for your self" it will set your soul free. Don't let anyone tell you the Bible MEANS this or that they are using it to serve there own means.

This is NOT what these passages are referring to. People take these things too literally. Yes a wife should submit, but not for specific and petty things like this.

If this is his line of logic, then he should also be able to coerce you to rob a bank, star in a porn movie, murder your neighbor, etc.....no. That is not what those passages mean. They have to be read in context with that entire chapter, and that entire book.

Marriage IS about compromise. Wearing sexy things isn't unreasonable, but if you are absolutely dead set against it, for whatever reason, then you two have a problem to be worked out.

Best of luck to you.

Archaeologist just found a new page to the bible that appears to been misplaced and they believe it was to go at the beginning. It roughly translates to, "All characters with these pages come from the imagination of the author and are are fictitious and any likeness to real people is coincidence"

I think everyone takes what the Bible says differently, and I hate people who use it to get what they want. Do you not want to wear these types of clothing? If not, then turn the 3rd scripture on him. You can make it sound like you need to treat your wife as good as yourself and if he wants you to wear such things, he has to wear what you tell him to.

all of these scriptures need to be taken in context! You can't just read the one scripture. You must read well before and well after to get the real idea.

You were not put on earth to be his sex slave! That i know for sure!
